professional lessons FTW. My son took them for several years and it's been great.themadscientist wrote:I need to get back to playing. I'm no good, but I really enjoyed it back in the day.
Roland V-Drums are nice, but I recommend Yamaha over Roland simply because it's a bit more bang for the buck. Having played both, the Yamahas are a bit more rugged and durable, and they also use recorded drum samples as opposed to synthesized drum sounds that make up the majority of Roland's drum catalog.DJBeasy wrote:Nice. Also on my to do list. Although I currently live in a condo so I was planning to go the V-Drum route.
I had bought a Rockwood drumset for my son, with mostly zildgien cymbols, some extra doodads and a cowbell, of course. Afterall, you can't have enough cowbell. Pretty elaborate setup. I know pretty much zip about drums so I don't how good Rockwoods are but they seem to have a nice sound and they've held up well to a lot of use.XenonSE-R wrote: Roland V-Drums are nice, but I recommend Yamaha over Roland simply because it's a bit more bang for the buck. I'm in a townhome myself, and sadly, all I have is my 10pc Yamaha Oak Custom (Oak is Japanese for LOUD MF-ING WOOD), so I do not play at home at all - just in my band's garage across town.
