while cruising the other day i noticed that at about 65mph the engine is right at 3000rpms. i have also noticed a few times in the past that the variable valve timing kicks in right at about 3000rpms. so...when the vvt is doing its thing you are useing more fuel.

just an idea, let me know if im misunder standing my own thoughts.

I've been averaging about 25 to 28 mpg lately. I filled up my tank yesterday at a Conoco/Phillips 66 with 87 unleaded plus. I try to keep the RPMs below 2000, it's easy with the CVT, and I still get poor milage.

I noticed 60 is better than 65 for mileage, not sure whether it is because of vvt.

At 90 km/h my engine stays at 2000 rpm with CVT. I always stay at this speed. No city driving,at all. I get 25-26 mpg approx. Crazy.

They installed a new fuel pump and fuel press. regulator TODAY finally. Going to get the car tonight.

Hopefully this was the problem for the awful gas mileage.

Is that all under warranty? My car(Auto) gets about the same MPG. Sometimes worse.. last tank was 20 mpg, current one is looking slightly better. I am thinking of having my dealer look into it. Let me know!

That really is crazy. I get better than that on the 401 going 119 [km/h -- don't worry!!!] . . . 2600-2800 RPM

Yes, it's actually really bad gas mileage. The service manager told me to wait until 12 000 km before bitching about this. He actually used the word "bitching" too. This Nissan dealer has some arrogant pricks working for them.

The only " bitching" I've done was to ask if it was normal to get 25-26mpg at a constant 2000 rpm and I told him my 6 year old beat up Z24 with 120 000 km spark plugs and 3 year old air filter still averages 34 mpg. LOL

I have to wait till 12 000 km before getting the car in. I'm now at 8000km.

Also I just got the car back from the dealer. They replaced the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator due to awful or non-existent engine starting.

Hopefully the bad fuel pump was the gas mileage problem.

"Your mileage may vary."

That disclamer is added for good reason.

I onlyget a 17 highway mpg difference between my actual gas mileage and the 43 highway mpg the claimed on the paper in the window when the car was new.

lawsuits

I'm with you, Sleek. I can tolerate the difference most times . . . but man is my mileage sucking this winter.

A bit of a whine coming up in the next coupla weeks when I go in for the 36,000 km check-up . . . though I expect nothing out of it.
