My 99 Q with 63K miles is still getting a noticeable jerk when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. At a stop light, if I rev the engine above 2K rpm, then the shifting is really jerky from 1 to 2. If the rpm is below 1.7K rpm, then the shifting from 1 to 2 is kinda smooth.

Here is what I have done to the transmission:1. Dealer diagnosed and said it is normal.2. Flushed the transmission at the dealer3. Dropped the transmission pan and replaced the filter with 5 qt of Mobil 1

I am thinking about using 1/2 bottle of Lubegard black formula.BTW, I have ordered BG transmission condition, but I have not used it yet.

Any suggestions on what I should try next?

See if you can find some other cars with the same transmission(maybe on the lot at your dealer) and compare them. Your service advisor may be able to hook this up for you. The other thing you might try, is downloading all of the TSBs for your car from http://www.infiniti-techinfo.com (one day viewing subscription - $20). It's possible that this has been addressed in some form or another and the service doesn't know about it.

The shift may indeed be normal. Most Nissans have more of a jerk from 1 -> 2 than the other gears.

How many miles are left on your warranty?

No jerk at all on my wife's 2000 FY33. Can't recall a TSB, but I haven't reviewed them all in detail. They are numerous.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Heath,I have downloaded all the TSB and the service manual for the car, but I have not really read them all yet. Most of the diagnose information are hard to understand and I get so intimidated by them.

I still have 7K miles before the warranty expired.

BTW Since the Rams is out, I am rooting for the Panther to go all the way :)

All I can say is you haven't ridden in any of the three I drive, nor in the newer F50s I occasionally ride in.

The shift from 1st to 2nd is jerkey sometimes also. Its been like that since when I bought the car at 36k miles. At 73k now, it hasn't got any worse.
