Hey i'm a bit confused as to whether i need the title notarized or not.

I live in pennsylvania and the car that i'm buying is in maryland.

Maryland law doesn't require a notary to switch titles, just the seller's and buyer's signature.
Pennsylvania law does require a notary to switch titles...

Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

The best thing to do is call your local BMV/DMV.

Since most banks have Notaries that will Notarize things for no cost (or SMALL fee), make arrangements to have it Notarized.

In Ohio, you can have each signature Notarized by different Notaries - he gets his sig notarized in MD< you sing your side of things at the BMV/DMV.

But again, the best thing to do is check the PA site, or call them.
