ok so i had my car on the dyno the other day and here is the story.
the last time it was on the dyno i was running a cat and was only boosting 14 psi. there was no blue smoke.
this time i'm running an open downpipe and upping the boost to 18psi and after a full pull on the dyno upon release of the pedal i get one good puff of blue smoke. no more no less. just enough to be noticable. car pulls hard seems fine but at this high boost i'm getting the blue puff.
turbo is a tomei b7652 and is only 1 year old. head has springs and 256 cams only and the bottom end is stock however when we had the head off for the hg we checked it out thouroughly and the walls were really clean and everything seemed a ok.
so what could i be looking at? the tuner said that it could just be gas. when i'm releasing the pedal the engine is just dumping the last bit of gas and causing the blue puff.
i've blown turbos before and i know what it looks like when they go. the turbo is fine.
here is what my research has turned up.
could it be built up oil pressure in the turbo allowing oil to get into the outlet at high rpm? i'm not running a restrictor atm.
could it be stem seals?
could it be rings? from what i've read about bad rings i would be getting consistent blue smoke.
any help would be great.
