not your average timing chain noise

Well me and my friend just got done removing the top chain guide(found out it was broken) after we got it out put everything together and started it. It started making a sharp ratteling sound. I have had 3 ka motors and none of them had made this high pitched of a sound from the timing chain. Any ideas?

could there be some some broken pieces that fell down and are consequently rattling? how does the tensioner look?

What does it sound like? Does it sound like metal slapping against metal? Metal grinding against metal?

We didn't really get a chance to look at the tensioner. He wants to do that tomorrow.As for the guide it broke in 2 and it looked like not any pieces got in there. We are changing the oil tomorrow. He is paranoid and needs to knw what could be causing the sound. Imo it sounds different from any other timing chain rattle I have heard

definitely check out that tensioner. mine was kind of froze up, so i took it out and soaked it with some light oil and worked it back and forth, until it worked properly. thats the cheap way, but its also cheap to go to the parts house and get one for like $10 or something like that. but i would run it as little as possible until you figure out whats going on with it.

It sounds more like a metal grinding on metal but its not constant its an off and on sound.
