Now don't get me wrong, i'm not knocking Tanabe OR Stillen, but i'm just not impressed with the sound it produces with the Versa. Atleast the ones i've heard on Youtube.....i know that doesn't do it justice, hearing it over computer speakers...but i'm trying to base what others sound like , to find out which on i want to get, it looks like i'm going to go with a Universal ones, but again thats a crap-shoot b/c you NEVER know what kinda sound your going to get from those. I just want a good deep throttle sound, not too ricey....of course this is just speculation, b/c i'm not REALLY going to buy an exhuast until the headers come out from someone...what does everyone else think....whats your honest opinion on how the cat-backs are sounding for the V?

Noone has a manufactured cat-back yet, as none have been produced. I can't say if anyone yet has a custom cat-back, but I can tell you this:

While a Flowmaster may sound neat because they always have a throaty sound, they are obnoxiously droney on 4- and 6- cylinder engines. I speak from personal experience on this matter.

I can't say for any other brands.

I have heard the Tanabe in person, and it sounds amazingly perfect! I really liked it. I took my Versa to a shop, and they were going to charge me $320 for catback piping and a magnaflow muffler.

As an exhaust shop owner, I can tell you that the FLowmaster is a waste of your time.

If there's a Versa owner in Miami, who will loan me their car for a day, I'll be glad to produce a Versa exhaust that will pummel anything coming to market...

Clipsed, can you ask around?

A lot of the problem with the noise maybe due to such a small engine. You may not find one that sounds good to you. Such small engines tend to sound high and whiney. May need a resonator inline somewhere. If there is one already you may need a longer one. Headers are going to increase the sound more due to the increased airflow as well. May worsen the sound you already dislike. I wonder if a G35 muffler would fit, that might sound good ok. Maybe not too loud but maybe deeper.

i think the reason as to why it doesn't so throaty is due to the the i4 configuration... i just never seemed to like how the 4 cylinder variations sounded... but thats just me... i think the versa would sound sick with just a straight pipe from the cat back... here's my cat back exhaust... im not sure how much the yoshi pipe alters the sound but it is what it is... im planing on going straight pipe very soon so yes.... we will see how that plays out....

I'd like to know why. Are you referring to the company and all it's products or just a flowmaster on a V? Down here, everyone rides with flowmaster and proudly post sticker in their back windows. But then again, everyone down here has at least 1 pickup to put the flowmaster on

i disconnected my muffler and now i just have the pipe coming from the cat and stopping at the axel-back. i did it for the sound, it sounds way deeper and better, it might make my gas mileage go down but i dont really care, i got gas money, i wanted to buy the stillen exhaust for my versa but i drove in another versa with that exhaust and i heart stuff shakin inside the car so that really dissappointed me

Its been about 5 years since I have been around their product, but has anybody thought about a Thermal R&D muffler?? Back then I used to love them. But since I moved here, ive never heard a car with a thermal muffler on it since.
