I have a 2003 G35 sedan it runs up and down mostly interstate. I have a set of Kumo Escta Platinum the tires made it 73987 miles on the tires when one wore through on the inner 1 inch of the tire while the rest of the tread has a flat even wear pattern to it. The rear end of the car seems to be the issue causing the odd tire wear. The car drives great handles well its not driven hard, fast but not hard. The car makes a lot of runs state to state so it sees a lot of interstate time and 75-80 mph. If the tires did not last so long I could see a major alignment issue. Hard to argue over 70k the tire still has 5/32 of rubber on the rest of the tire. The car varies from carrying 2 to 4 people. I know camber can cause a similar issue but it normally would show across the full width of the tire not such a defined edge. Any suggestions?
Both rear tires are wearing like this.

Its too much positive camber. If the outer shoulder is wearing like that and your inner shoulder looks in far too good of condition, thats the culprit.

Same issue, only negative camber, although it admittedly doesn't look like normal negative camber wear. I would still have the alignment checked because it HAS to be an alignment issue, unless the tire is rubbing on something, but I'm assuming that with that kind of wear you would have heard/smelled it and it would have done it quickly.

I have the same unusual front tire wear that is only on the inside 1" of the tread on my 2005 G35 Coupe. The rest of the tread is evenly worn at 5/32nds. The tires are Kumho Ecsta SPT 225/40-19. My tires look the same except that one tire has the webbing exposed. Is the problem with the Kumho tires or the car?

I believe its the car Esp in your case if you only have one tire doing that. I just wasn't sure if something need to be adjusted different from a normal settings alignment to cure the issue since I have so many miles on the tires.

ksum, you were right. The rubber bushings on both front compression rods were cracked, causing bad alignment. This quickly chewed up the inside tread of my front tires. The repair and alignment was $900, and new tires were another $700. If it happens again, I will just replace the bushings. The mechanic said the problem is common on G35 coupes and sedans.

Glad you got it figured out.
