I usually dont post in the 240sx general chat, i usually stick to the KA-T section and sometomes read the Geaneral and 240 general chat but something pretty important happened..... yea.... i crashed my S14. you never think it would happen to you but it does. and the worst part is that it was intirerly my fault. i had been drinking a little bit (not to much, a couple shots) thought i was alright, but wasnt. i was goin down a familiar road but it was a pretty steep downhill, and ended up not turning for the next road and goin across the next road over a 8ft drop into a creeck. i really dont remember what happened before the accident, just remember me getting out of the car with the air bags deploid and me wondering what the **** had happened. then next thing i kno the amblience and state troopers arrive and i fail the sobriety test. really sucks, not so much that i had gotten arrested but the fact that i had let me parents and all my friends down. to make matters worse i had just spent about 2-3 hours detailing my car earlier that day. ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i really loved my S14 so much. well, i couldnt really tell if it was totalled since i was handcufted in the cop car when they were pulling it out but from the road coarse i could see it went through i could see it was pretty much through. i wont be able to see what its really like until later this week when i get a chance to look at it. hop me the best of luck. or u can ***** at me as much as u want because i kno thats what i would me doing if i had read this thread a week ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! damnit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya, that sucks real bad. I lost my previous 240 as well. In a weird note, one of my HS friends lost his car in nearly the same way (off ledge into creek, alcohol "likely" involved.) I can't say he fared nearly as well (had to go to hospital for a couple days.) Only lucky thing though is somehow, either through hospital or paperwork mistakes his BAC either never got reported to police or taken in the first place so they couldn't get him with DUI. If your an optimist, at least the cliff wasn't 20 feet high. Glad your ok.

yeah we all make mistakes. at least you didn't get anyone else involved in the accident. that would have made things 100x worse. glad to hear you're okay too.

Use this as a lesson. Drinking isn't worth what it takes from you.

thanks for the support everyone. i went out and tried to get a look at my car but the place that towed it is closed on Sunday. i did get back to where it happened though. it looked really ugly, u could see the marks on the connecting road where my car had bottomed out and then a big spot where all the mud/dirt had been shifted from the impact. Im lucky i didnt try to turn at all or i would have made the situation much worse. i was wearing my seatbelts and the airbags worked very well. physically im perfectly fine. im just gonna be hating myself for my mistake for a long while. i did get some pictures of where it happened if anyone is intersted. i think i'll upload them in a second. Ill post some pics of the car too when i get to see it.

THat really sucks man...I'm sure you've learned about drinking/driving. This will cause problems for you for a while, but at least you arent hurt. I totaled my S14 earlier this year on a mountain road, just went into a corner too quick and nicked a cliff. You'll get over the loss of and the car, I just hope you're more careful about drinking and driving in the future. Sucks, the supply of S14s is dwindling...

yeah, it is hard to find a 240 that has no damage whatsoever. Im having that trouble right now looking for another s13 hatch, but even the s14's I see are the same way. Glad to hear you made it out ok though.

very sorry to hear about your loss bro, but thank God that you are ok. I will keep you in my prayers as you go through this difficult time. Stay strong, and be thankful that you are ok. Life is full of lessons, you learned one and were lucky enough to walk away from it with your health. Good luck with what lies ahead of you.

Well at least you didn't die or kill anyone else. I guess you learned your lesson the hard way. I learned my seatbelt lesson the hard way. I think reflecting time is over and it's now time to start anew.

Yo KA37,

Sorry to hear about what happened man. Something similar happened to me about 3 years ago - I thought that after a beer and a couple shots I could drive; I'd driven on miniscule amounts of alcohol before and I'm a big guy so it's never been an issue. Well one night I was driving home in my 92 SE-R, completely spaced out, didn't see the 'Road Consruction Ahead' sign and macked into a giant orange road sign. That alone wasn't really enough damage to total the car, but freaking out and trying to correct/brake at the last second was, and I lost control into a tree.

**** happens man! You live, you learn, you understand that you're not invincible, and if you're a smart guy it doesn't happen to you again. Life is ALL about how you react to a situation, and how you learn from it. Bad things will happen to everyone, it's unavoidable. Sooner or later you'll do something stupid, whether you think you can handle it or not, and you'll make a big mistake. The cool part is that doing so gives you an opportunity to appreciate, and an opportunity to adapt.

They've all said it already, but you and I are both in the same boat - alcohol-related accidents that didn't hurt anything or anyone (except maybe a few imports and our pride). You got lucky man. What you do with this experience is what makes you a man =)

went and looked at the car today and its kinda what i expected. theres only one spot where the frame was messed up that i could see and that was right near the driver's side fender part where it connects to the radiator support. over all i think it is fixable but will be decleared totalled seeing as how the repair cost would outweigh the vehicle's cost. ill upload a few pics in a second. oh and i was talking to the tow truck driver and he was telling my that he has been pulling people out of the same spot for years, not that it makes up for my irresponcability but there should probably have a warning sign or upcoming stop sign sign. my friend was also telling my the same exact thing happened to his brother in the same spot.

if i were you i would buy it back from the insurance company (not sure if they cover DUI where the insured is at fault) and then part it out or fix it yourself,

glad you are okay and that no one else was involved

ive decided to not file a claim after talking to the insurance company. by doing this they will not change the prices for insurance unless they have to reevaluate my families plan in which case they will take the DUI and accident into factor. so if i do file a claim then my premiums will skyrocket and my families no accident discount will be eliminated. so basically i am going to have the car towed back to the house later this week and maybe get a few estimates. i'll try to disassemble the front end so i can really see what has happened and if the damage is too serious ill probably end up parting out the car. i am going to do whatever i can to repair it because i really dont want to see a 240 go to the graveyard with so little damage.

Yo KA37,

Those pics don't look that bad. That is not a 240 kill. Pull that front end off, get replacement body panels, and you can fix your car. Guaranteed, since you hit a dirt embankment, your body isn't tweaked. Fix that sheit man!

Damn, good thing you werent hurt or you hurt anyone else.

Yeah, you live and learn. The problem comes when people DONT learn from their mistakes and when their mistakes claim lives.

Take it easy out there man.

My damage was a lot worse than that, I'm almost %100 sure its fixable...I'm really sorry to hear about this, I was in the exact same position minus the alcohol.

Dont part it out, its totally worth fixing IMO.

...nice rims btw
