I have just finished my swap and when I went to start it for the first time all I get is cranking. If I feather the gas it will run, badly at that, until I stop feathering the gas. Any suggestions on what I may have done wrong here? I've checked all the harness clips and I'm wired correctly and I'm getting gas,and when I pulled the plugs they looked good. So I'm not really sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Check if all connections are on tight. Other than that check your fuel lines.

well I checked all the fuel lines and I've got fuel in both. I've noticed that if I let it sputter for a few minutes it makes quite a bit of white smoke and wreaks of gasoline. I upgraded the OEM fuel pump up to a walbro pump so I was wondering if it might be getting to much gas. Is that possible? Or could I need an aftermarket pressure regulator? It wants to run, but the more i troubleshoot, the faster it chokes out. If I leave it sit for awhile it runs a little better, but eventually gets worse. I'm totally lost.

check your plugs and see what they look like... i bet they are really sooty if you are running rich. It might even be wet with gasoline if your chambers are flooded.

I would check to see that your injectors arnt leaking.

You can run a walbro fuel pump without an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator without much problem.

so are you saying it won't idle right? are you sure the timing is right? and are you sure you dont have any vacuum leaks? The white smoke could be blown turbo seals or a bad headgasket. keep the car running again and check the temperature to see if its normal or not. you can also check to see if there is gas in your oil. also do a compression test and let us know what you got. as for the gas smell that could be an exhaust leak or a bad fpr. but since you arent seeing black smoke i think it could be an exhaust leak

I mean't seeing if your fuel lines are not mixed up, I didn't mean check for fuel. Other than that I would check if all the wire connections are nice and tidy.

well guys I've done a compression test and the results are normal, 155,150,150,150 in order. Checked all my fuel lines and they're going where they need too. Plugs however are fouled and are wet with gas. Is this possibly a regulator problem or possibly MAFS? I dont know much about the MAFS so its just a guess but I've heard it can really mess with your idle and power. I still plan of checking the TPS and CAS just havent had a chance to yet. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

ya check power to your maf..the power wire should be 12v and the other 5v one is a ground..tps could also be a problem the voltage on that should be anywhere from .45 to .55 at idle and i believe 4.5 at WOT. like Ilikemy240sx said if your spark plugs are wet with gasoline you have flooded chambers..im guessing you are burning rich?? check to see if any of your injectors are leaking..you can do this buy turning your key on to build pressure in the fuel rail and then pull the fuel rail off with the injectors still in ...then unplug coilpack and crank engine..you will be able to tell if any are leaking

well thanks for all your help guys. it certainly pointed me in the right direction. turns out the crappy idle was because i was running on only 2 cylinders. there was short in the signal wire going to the 1 and 3 coil packs and having fixed that car runs great. thanks again for the help.
