I've been planning on purchasing a Rogue for months now, but recently I've been having my doubts. I've been hearing more reports of poor build quality in the form of interior rattles, noisy door seals, poor/noisy heating and cooling systems including fan failures, poor rear visibility, and terrible paint quality that chips and scratches easily. I know that no vehicle is perfect, but the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CRV are starting to look more appealing because they have proven quality and the paint stays on the vehicle!!

Please prove me wrong, and convince me to come back to the Rogue as my number 1 choice because I need help!! Thank you!!

Well i have only had mine for 3 weeks now and i love nissan (have an 03 xterra as well). my dealership is awesome for customer service.

as far as the rogue, the back window is small and wierd to see out of but that was only for the first couple times, i got used to it really quick and havent had any problems. as far as noises, i dont think its that bad. i have the radio on anyway (low because of the baby) and i dont hear anything.

complaints- my fuel is nowhere near where it should be but its been freaking cold and its new so i am hoping it will get better. my tailgate or whatever you want to call it doesnt close right all the time but my dealership is going to adjust it on my oil change tomorrow.

i only have the base FWD but i love it. drive awesome, picks up when you need it and it actually better in the snow then i thought it would be (and we have had a lot of it in the last few weeks).

with the FWDu can get 1000 back in an ecoauto credit from the gov. which save $$$$

on top of that as a personal preference i dont like the looks of the CRV at all and the RAV4's dont do anything for me either (could be because my mother in law has one).

so all in all so far its a great car!

Please keep in mind that if you're using web forums as your sole source of reliability information, people are much, much more likely to post when they're having a problem than that everything is going fine.

What I'm trying to say is...web forums are generally not a good indicator of overall product quality. They can be used as one source, but you shouldn't rely solely on them.

I'm not saying people aren't having issues (I've had one or two of the things mentioned on this site here), but #1) this site is a very small cross section of Rogue owners and #2) people post negative stuff much more quickly than they post praise.

There are two groups of people who go to discussion groups. Those like me, that love cars and want to learn everything they can about a car they have found that looks good enough to own (I have had mine for three months and love it), and those who have found a problem and are looking for answers. So a LOT of problems first appear on discussion groups, asked by people who need an answer to a specific problem. The rest of us lurk here to learn more about our car.

Cheers, Dave in Mpls

That would be me. This is a great site for Rogue owners. I've had zero issues with my Rogue in the 5000 miles and 4 months of ownership. Do not base your choice of vehicles on posts in forums, if you look at any vehicle forum site you will likely not see many topics " All is well" but you will see quiet a few posts of problems or negatives on any given vehicle.

haha. im lurking to learn more about my car. i've actually learned a lot here despite thinking that doing like 6 months of research before actually getting mine was enough.

i love it. i love everything about it. i have no scratches or rattles and havent had a single problem with it. its a SL AWD/Leather//Premium/Moonroof/Tow/etc.

IMO - I have had my Rogue since October. I have 11000 miles on it, with no squeeks, rattles or issues. I traded a fully loaded 2005 Nissan Maxima for the Rogue, and have not been sorry even once. The Rogue is getting better milage than the Maxima, handles awesome in the snow, and in the mud, I have even taken it out on the beach, with no issues.

Make sure when you get your Rogue that you like the dealership you buy it from, that makes all the difference in the world. The dealership I have worked with has been wonderful, and that is why I bought 3 cars from them, in the last 5 years.

Good luck.

I agree with blaruffa, the dealership makes a big difference. If you have any worry about something, be sure to ask them about the services they provide. Mine will fix dings, rattles, dash scuffs and scratches, fabric issues, and even replace the floor mats if the "ROGUE" emblem wears out. I've gone to them already for a number of things and when they fix it it's like I'm in a new car again, and they even give me some preventative care and maintenance tips. It's good to have that confidence.

I mainly love the Rogue for the practicality of it. Great on highways, versatile under most driving conditions, and the features are all I want and nothing more. I love Nissan all around, and I'll admit I even miss the Versa SL hatchback I had before.

(also, the handling saved me from a slippery spinout during heavy rains that would have been a potentially serious accident)

From your posting, I'm sure you've read a couple posts from me. To be fair, the car drives really good, especially on highway, it rides very well. Like other people said, I came here to post the problems I have had simply seeking for help. some problems could also caused by poor craftmanship from the dealer and created other issues since it wasn't done right the first time.

so def. keep a good relationship with your dealer and they will take care of you if anything should happen to your car.

Also, Rogue is a new line, unlike maxima and altima where they can have their eyes closed and tell you which part is what. in many areas, they are learning more about the Rogue each day just like you and me.

good luck

I have to say that I love my rogue, I have 8500 miles and no problems other than - why does it rain after every car wash? I think that there are always going to bad cars no matter the make or model. Overall Nissan's rep is wonderful. But it's new and the dealer is really the link in the chain that is going to make the most difference if you do end up with a "bad" car.

You won't be sorry. Just got most of the way through a really crappy winter here in Iowa. The Rogue took it all in stride. It has such sporting pretensions You'll probably find yourself pushing it to the limit. I would never have tried that with the old CRV. Maybe they aren't pretensions!

I've had my Rogue for 4 months now and I can honestly say I haven't experienced any problems. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe I haven't put enough miles on it yet, but with 4 months and 3500 miles, so far I'm completely satisfied with the Rogue. The wife is too.

This observation hits the nail on the head. That is why sites like "ripoffreport.com" are notoriously biased; you just cannot trust their stats.

My experience as of 4/2/08: I own my Rogue six months and one day; it has 10,456 miles on it; the tires have been rotated once and Mobil One has been in it since it's first oil change at 2,487 miles; and it has not had a single warranty repair. It is absolutely the most sure-footed vehicle I've ever owned, and I own an '06 Frontier 4x4 too, so I mean SOLID. It gets 27 to 29 miles/gallon on the road, and in local traffic still manages 23 or 24. Regular fuel. I love it, period, and I'd drive it more if my wife would only let go of it.
