Not Starting when Hot

1990 240SX - Auto this only happens in hot weather. All winter car running fine. Have changed starter 3 times. Starter seems to be fine. Also have new battery. Read there is a relay that might be bad - can someone tell me where it is or if you have another suggestion I would take it.

i had the same problem with my 240. Put up with it not starting for two months replaced starter altenator and even switched batteries.This did not fix it either. It seemed whenever it was hot out or the car was hot it would not start. It would just spudder and spudder and spudder. Sometimes it would start but rarley. Anyways if this sounds like your problem. Go and get a altenator harness and i'll bet your problem will be gone. I replaced mine after being embarrassed at car shows cause i couldn't get it started or spuddering like crazy,and i tell ya i got that done and i tore the @#$% out of it. Why it acted like that i don't no but i no it doesn't do it anymore. Wish i new this before the summer was over. Hope this helps it helped me.
