Finally the car is moving under it's own power and I can drive it for the first time in months. As like with all swaps, you always have your problems. Wiring is 100% and everything is hooked up.

So my problem is this, the car idles fine and runs great under minimal boost and under 3/4 throttle. When I get the revs up some and go into boost under WOT, it wasn't to break up real bad, sputter and buck.

So now I need to check vacuum to the engineBoost leaksfuel pressureinspect spark plugs/clean/regapinspect coilpacks for damagerun some soapy water on the intake to find a possible bad intake gasketpossible throttle body gasket leakPossible slipping clutch - but that wouldn't effect vacuum as it's still only reading 14 or so. Need to rebleed dampener box and see if that helps.

I am also getting compressor surge (whatever you want to call it, not starting a debate), my vacuum is hooked up to the bypass valve, so I think it's shot

So anything that you rb20 guys have had problems with in the past, please feel free to chime in and let me know what you did to fix it. I don't have tons of time to work on the car, so If I could narrow down the problem some that would be great!

Mine just started doing this again right around 5k. I fixed it before by getting a Walbro and FPR. My guess on mine is MAF, going to find out today while finally hooking up power steering.

My vacuum usually reads like 20 to 25. Check your ECU for codes.

I capped off the bov and charcoal canister vacuum lines to see if that helped and it didn't.

So the only other source of vacuum leaks there could be is lower intake gasket, upper intake gasket, tb gasket, iac gasket? Of course intercooler piping, but ive checked those 20 times and they are tight and on the lips so they don't blow off.

Anyone had intake gasket problems on their engine?

My problem ended up being cylinder 4 & 5's spring inside the coilpack was f'ed up. So just put in two new coilpacks and all is good again.

when you say your spring was messed up in your coilpack, how did it look? I pulled cyl one coil pack off today and the spring moved around a crapload?

I pulled the plugs, looked fine, regapped them and put them back in.

You should build a boost leak tester like I posted on the other forum =]

My original throttle body shaft seal leaked, found it by pressurizing the intake pipe... Heared a loud hiss coming from behind the TPS (which doesn't seal anything). Replaced the TB and it's all good. My point is you leak could be coming from anywhere, maybe not even a leak in the first place, but you should cross "vac leaks" off your list before you go on to other diagnostics....

I have the stuff to do the leak test, but no one has told me what to block off before testing! Hopefully that will find my problem!

I pull my coilpacks and taped up the boots and the supporting bracket and it cleared up alot of my problem. So I need to invest in some new coilpacks!

I dont mean to steal your post but maybe I could get some help with this, When my car is idling, their is very little vacume but as I step on the gas it builds vacume and then builds boost. My tach doesnt work right so I cant say exact rpms. But is there supposed to be a significant amount of vacume at idle?

check to make sure you bov vacuum line is connected, hard to see by the throttle body, moreso underneath the crossover pipe, 2 vacuum lines to charcoal canister, vacuum to boost gauge, vacuum to brake booster and pcv system. Everything should be connected, and if your not sure if it's sealed tight, put a ring clamp on it!

If your idle is surging, check your idle air valve, it could be carboned up

You block of the line that runs from your accordion intake boot to the valve cover. If not it will fill the crankcase with pressure, and possibly blow by the turbo into the intake track. I just pull the line of at the valve cover and stuff a cap and clamp it down.By my spring being f'ed up, I meant it look like it had got real hot in one area and the metal was much thinner and deformed. I would like to find some spring that I could just screw or push of each spark plug that are long enough to make contact inside the coilpack, instead of the little spring and contact point they have now.
