My wife has 2010 Rogue. We bought it new last may and is now due for the annual PA emission testing and safety inspection. We sent the car in today for an oil change and the annual inspection and was told by the technician that the car is not ready for diagnostics because it hasn't been driven long enough for the sensors to reset. He asked if we had replaced the battery recently or cleared ECU codes with a code scanner.
We never did any of that because we never had the check engine light come on.We never replaced or disconnected the battery either.
Has anyone else heard of this? I'm thinking maybe the ECU needs a re-flash from Nissan?

I was very surprised becxause the car is only 10 months old.

This makes absolutely no sense. I would try another shop or perhaps a dealer. Sounds very weird to me.

Pulling the battery WILL NOT reset modern Nissan ECU's. Only a special self test (the procedure is described in the Rogue FAQ) or a scan tool can do this. It's not something you would have done by accident, etc.

Phillipa. I doubt if it was an accident from his side but could be easily an accident from mechanic
He was probably talking on the phone while connecting obd2 to scan tool instead of inspection computer. These days anybody can check the engine light for cheap at home. Just buy bluetooth device on ebay and install free program to your ipone/android phone/blackberry and do a full diagnostic rather than check simple engine light. Bluetooth obd2 adapter will cost about $20 and I would rather check with that first ;) Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay-ZvTn3 ... re=related
