Mark Williams is an ignorant idiot.

I've got no problem with Schlesinger's comments. NONE.

We all need to make a decision: Are we gonna be for free speech or not?

Howard Stern uses anti-Semitic comments all the time. Fifty Cent says the N word 11 times in ONE SONG. Mark Williams says something colossally stupid, yet talk radio hosts (on the left AND right) make offensive comments for a living.

Back to Schlesinger: Caller calls in asking for advice. Doc doesn't immediately validate her knotted-up thing, so caller gets confrontational. Doc basically tells her to "get over it". I mean, come on. This woman didn't EXPECT some of that when she decided to be half of a mixed-race marriage? Bah. Quit crying and stand up for yourself, you pathetic talk-show calling ignoramus. Dr. Laura can't heal stupid.

Did I mention that Mark Williams is an ignorant idiot, but his speech is just as protected as that of anyone else's.

it isnt illegal to be racist. just offensive.

as for "Dr." L, I hope she dies in the worst way possible, by being ignored and forgotten. She is a nasty heinous woman who I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy. That opinion wasnt at all affected by her latest rant.

the issue in both is that you cant claim that your hate-speech isnt racist. Im sorry, calling someone a Judenrat is not acceptable. As you stated, I may not like what you have to say, but doesnt mean you dont have the right to say it.

So he is suggesting people are like Jews who turned in other Jews? Isn't this a Christian versus Muslim thing? How did the Jews get dragged into this. Bigoted and bad at metaphors...

...and as borderline "thought police" as your statement is, Tariq, I don't disagree.

Just remember - People have a right to think racist thoughts, say racist things, and even behave in racist ways.

Playing "the card" only increases distrust. The Dr. Laura thing was much ado about absolutely nothing. People who get all agitated over a word are NO BETTER than the person who uses the offensive words.

i totally agree with you. the left has far too many people who are using the race card to stifle criciticsm. that reduces the likelhood that when actual racism exists, its dealt with properly.

like i said, its not illegal to say racist things. the price you pay is that you lose your audience.

Yep. And I'm still a real big proponent of "natural consequences" without the artificial protections of some pain-in-the-a** attorney.

Say the wrong thing to the wrong person and you just might get KTFO... and that's OK by me.

Be nice, keep your idiocy in check, and navigate the waters of life.

I've never heard of this guy. But "jew-rat?" Really?

Look, I don't see a First Amendment issue in any of the public backlash against this guy or Schlesinger. You say something stupid in public, expect people to react accordingly. You say something stupid on a commercial radio station that derives funds from advertising, which requires that people actually tune in, don't be surprised if you find yourself kicked to the curb.

The First Amendment protects against government oppression. It's not a granting of an absolute right so much as it is an absolute limit on Government power. That goes for the whole of the Constitution and all of its Amendments. That you have a right to say whatever you please does not mean that anyone is obliged to give you a forum or an audience.

Agree or disagree with Schlesinger's comments, but there's nothing inappropriate about what's happened to her so far.

noted constitutional scholar, and successful 1/2 term Governor/Mother Grizzly Sarah Palin sees a Constitutional issue here. In fact she told Ms. Schelssinger,

I find it ironic that she and her supporters see that this is a blocking of First Amendment rights, while at the same time, calling publically for the withdrawl of First Amendment rights from Muslims.

by ironic, i mean sad, because that is the nature of reasoned debate in this country.

Gotta agree with you and IBC - she's off the mark... no Constitutionality issue here.

I still have nothing but disdain and disgust for someone who would boycott or sanction someone for their use of a supposedly "offensive" term if they EVER have used it themselves. Pathetic and weak.
