I bought my Coupe a few months ago, but due to a motorcycle accident I had a lot of down time and haven't driven it much. I'm at a little over 1000 miles right now. A few days after the purchase, Nissan called and we scheduled the first service for August 31, thinking I'd be near 3000 miles by then. I doubt by the end of the month I'll even have 2000 miles on it. What's the protocol in this situation? Should I call and reschedule the service for a later date, or should I show up on August 31st even if I don't have 3000 miles on the car yet?

I took mine in with 2000 miles on it.Wanted to flush the oil just to be safe, and went to synthetic.

I was about to take a little road trip, so I figured I would do it before heading out.

PS!Hope the accident was not too bad !!!

hey i accidentally reset my odometer...the one that shows how many mileage you've driven...i was due for my first maintenance as well but opt not to go coz when nissan called me i only had 800...how do i find out now when to go in? should i just go in already, wait for the maintenance light to go off, or am i screwed? also, the synthetic oil, do you as for that specifically at the dealership or you have to buy it and give it to them? if i have to buy it, which one should i get for my 2.5...thx

It's much better to take your own oil and filter.

I had a similar situation where I didn't drive my car when I first got it. I basically had it in the garage for the first 3 months. I did my first service after having it for 6 months and it was only around 2500 miles on it at the time.

cspare,I like the idea of taking it in to get the oil changed as early as possible. The bike accident wasn't too bad. Totalled the bike (08 Ninja 250) but nothing broken and the fact that I'm already back to riding a new 08 Ninja 250 (same color even) is also keeping the Coupe's mileage from adding up.RPx.2.5,You should sign up at NissanUSA.com and record your actual mileage before you reset the odo. They will send you emailed alerts when your Coupe is ready for service.jumpmanvi,I didn't know you could bring your own oil and filter to a dealership for an oil change. Does that apply even if you're not switching to synthetic at the time? I would think they wouldn't like someone doing that and would consider you an OCD case.

I think I'll at least delay it another month. Between riding the bike and less trips due to gas prices it may be Christmas before I get near 3000k.

I took mine in for its first servicing and I was nowhere near the mileage mark - they modified my service schedule to just bring it in every 6 months instead..
