Not much of a mechanic, so help me out if you can

I have a 1985 nissan pickup it is 2wd. and a 5 spd. single cab

The problem: I notice that there is a major rip in the exhaust,..Everytime I start it up you can hear the exhaust like it's tinkering or something.

If it's a misfiring how do I fix it? Please very detailed instructions, because I wouldn't know what or where to begin.

Also, every once in awhile, when I've driven it some and go to turn it off, I hear what is coming out of the exhaust, something that sounds like a loud shot-gun. Nor does the truck always completely shut off, How do I fix?

i would say check the anti diesling unit in your carb.
