Well, to make a long story short, there has been way too many things going wrong with my car lately. It seems like as soon as something gets fixed something else goes wrong. This has been going on ever since I bought it a year and a half ago. I really hope I don't have to get rid of the car, but if things keep going wrong.... :(

Sorry just had to rant about this.

That's the joy of owning a 15 year old car!!! Dude, hang onto it!

ANY car that old is gonna have problems frequently. That's the price you pay to NOT have a monthly payment on the damn thing. Luckily I'm just about done paying for my 95. I've had it for 4 years and it's been very reliable..... but it's getting old and it's time for stuff to start falling apart I'm sure. Just gotta expect it I guess.

Maine: That is true, no monthly payment is nice. :)

Phil: Parents live up north of you in Mount Vernon, I'm over here for school. And sorry I don't think I'm gonna sell it just yet, but if the time ever does come you'll be first in mind.

Bunta: You name it, I've done it. (Well not really, just seems like it.) I've done the timing guides & tensioner, clutch, brake pads and rotors (not calipers yet), fuel pump, water pump, fuel injectors, muffler, belts, even the spark plugs. The tapping sound I'm guessing is due to low oil pressure, I'm gonna pull and check the pump and replace the gaskets, it just sucks to do it in the school parking lot. Also, the exhaust is white no matter the temp of the car, but I don't think it's the head gasket. (praying it's not)

I didn't say I didn't enjoy driving the car, in fact I have some of the best memories of my life cruising in my car. But you gotta see where I'm coming from right now. I'm in college with no job, so money for parts only goes so far. Plus whenever I want to work on it I have to do it in the damn parking lot in the snow/rain/ice or whatever the weather decides to do. Add these up and it makes for lots of frustration.

I think I'm going to admit defeat and take the car to my parents' friend who is a mechanic, who will hopefully find out the source of my problems these days.

What's the mileage on your 89?

Some of the stuff you mentioned is stuff that needs to be replaced as far as routine maintenance goes. Such as the belts, rotors, pads, clutch (for the mileage you have it was needed) etc etc. I feel your pain though...

It's one of the drawbacks about having an older car, but as long as you replace with high quality parts it's not a problem. It sounds as though you do your own work, which makes it relatively less pricey. Nissan parts aren't cheap but it pays you back in driving enjoyment! So i plan to keep my car indefinitely. :D (of course having another car as a daily driver in the future)

So would I, Tom, so would I. :)

Sky: It just turned 153k, and yeah I know it's maintenance stuff, it just seems like it's all going wrong right now. I'm sure I'll get over it by the weekend, just gotta keep goin with it.

PS. I forgot to include a new coolant burp bolt when I dropped my last one, lol. Figured it was worth mentioning :D

oops, i know what u mean about working out in the rain/snow/ice... i've just replaced my front brake pads in the driveway of my parents' house <don't wanna do it on the streets of nyc> 2 hours & many 'warm-up breaks' later, the job was done.

good thing too, since i heard the squealers 2 weeks ago & when i finally had time to take it apart, i was almost metal-to-metal.

& altimaman was regretting buying the 240 over his altima... for a while... but the enjoyment of driving the car got the best of him, from what i can see...
