Not happy with dealer service.

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have had my EX35 for around 6 weeks now and I have 1,600 miles on it, I have two problems that I had from day one. The first is the fuel pump problem that I have read about that is very common and the second is mywipers skip when going back down which is very annoying. I called my dealer today and talked to the girl in service and told her my problems and can I order the parts before I come in so I do not have to make the hour drive each way to my dealer a second time. She tells me no I have to bring the car in first so they can tell me that I am correct and then order the parts. So I call back later after I calm down and talk to the service manager and give him the service bulletin number for the fuel pump. He claims that he has never heard of a fuel pump problem on the EX35. The service manager calls me back later and says now that he can order the part for me without see the car first, but he is unsure about my wipers. Since my car is going into the shop anyways does anyone no what the service bulletin number for the grinding stering wheel column is? I should have them look that up since it is already going to be there. My car was eleven months old when I bought it with 17 miles on the odometer, why do dealers not fix these problems before they sell the cars, and then pretend that you are the only one to ever have these problems when they know that the problems exist? Thank you and sorry about the long post.

Hey there Patrick, your frustration is understandable. The general rule of thumb is not ordering parts over the phone and with the new restrictions on warrantying parts proper channels need to be followed.

The noise on startup from the fuel pump may not have been present when your car was first inspected. The salesman should have picked up on that, as they should be performing an initial inspection before you take the keys.

As for the steering column noise there are not many EXs that exhibit that complain. If your car has this you will indeed know about it. Going into the service department waving a printed copy of the bulletin and demand they fix what is not broken. If you develop a good rapport with your service rep you may find

Just try to keep a cool head, the people there are indeed there to help you.
