Looks like detonation, how much boost were you running?

If you were running that low of boost, I would look at fuel delivery. You may have had bad spray from the injectors, or low pressure. Either or, you were running way too hot.

That's what my #3 plug looked like when my motor blew. I had no compression on that cylinder and the edge of the piston was melted some and ring land destroyed.

I never have really asked anyone on here what they thought could have been the primary cause of mine blowing. I was running an enthalpy ECU w/ dwerks 740cc/Z32 MAF, and t3/t4 50 trim @ 16 psi.

Hijacker, i felt a miss @ around 6k and his plug is exactly what mine looked like. I know you build these motors and are very familiar w/ them, your opinion on what might have happened w/ mine would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be honest with you. You'll be extremely lucky if you don't have some cylinder wall damage from that amount of melting. In short, you're more than likely going to have to bore it out, which will require some form of non-stock piston.

i would go standalone EMS next time. Yoru running big injectors and a big turbo, time to watch for timing and adjust for fuel delivery under load.

yea standalone, bigger injectors, and bigger turbo sounds good. the cylinder doesn't have any deep scores. but it looks like there just melted piston on the cylinder wall. im goin to tear it down and go from there... anyone know about any places around maine or NE that has a good reputation for building or machining motors let me know... thanks, Steve

so im thinkin about getting aftermarket pistons. will the stock sleeves be reliable with a .020 overbore to hold some 86.5mm pistons?

Yeah i think thats that largest you can go on stock sleeves. That makes the stock sleeve pretty thin though.

.020 will work fine with stock sleeves. I'm running that right now. I believe .040" is too much, though.
