I am hooking up a kenwood unit in my 94 q. I know how to hook up everything with the exception of the light wires. Not sure how to hook up these two wire. There is a hook up for the on off switch but there isnt one for the rheostat. The on off switch turns on the tail lights and interior gauges and the rheostat just turns on the interior lights. Desperatly need help hooking these two wires up in the proper sequence I work at night and this is crippling me.

Are you using the wiring and block diagrams in the FSM?

I have tried to help in the other forum, but can't tell for sure what the issue is either. My guess is that there's some confusion as to if the wire that needs to be connected to the Kenwood unit should be connected to a lighting wire that is controlled by the dimmer, or if it should be connected to one that is always at 12V anytime the park lights are on.

If I'm right about the question... does the Kenwood unit have two connections for illumination? What does the installation guide call for... a 12V when lights are on wire, or one that varies it's voltage with the dimmer control? In either case, I would think you should be able to probe an illumination wire and measure it's voltage with a multimeter. If it varies with the dimmer, you know it's controlled by it...
