Well it turns out I don't think I am going to be doing the CA swap in my 240 that I have been planning...

But the good news is I am gonna buy a 1988 Silvia K's for under 4 grand shipped to my door!! I live in Canada so they are perfectly legal here with no modification! The car won't get here till early February, but it will be worth the wait!I'll post some pics up later.

Bad ***! So you can technically buy a R32 and register it in Canada?

Yes, any car that was manufactured 15 years ago to month, or more, can be registered in Canada, with no modifications. There is one R32 GT-R and one GTS-T (snuck past customs as 240's), a Silvia, a 180SX and a RB26DETT powered Cefiro in my city alone. Next summer there should be a whole ****load of GT-Rs coming over legally.

That's very interesting, because I've heard the exact opposite on Canadian regulations for non-complying imported cars. Do you know of a website where the regulations are stated?

Poke around on the Canada Customs and Revenue site, it has all the information. http://www.tc.gc.ca/pacific/fa...tm#23

The only downside is we can't modify cars to fit the standards like in the US.

I can back up goodfelladavey. It is perfectly legal, and the other bonus is that here in Ontario (I dont know if they have this in Alberta) they do not have to pass an emissions test. There are several people that I know who are planning to import '89s (Skylines, Silvias) once 2004 rolls around. A good buddy of mine is the president of canada_skylines, a (the) club of Canadian Skyline owners obviously :)

Basically you need to have an address in Canada. If you know someone who could help you out (have the car in their name), you could do it, but it would still be illegal to have it while living in the states. I know that if you bring a US car into Canada that is not legally registerable in Canada, you have a year until you have to get it out of the country, get it modified to spec, or have it taken away by the Gov.
