I picked up a new Infiniti G37 a few months back and I'm loving almost everything about car....except the Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires. I've never had a set of tires that were so prone to breaking loose, especially on wet pavement. In the space of 6 months I've become so paranoid that I'm actually altering my driving habits a bit because I have so little faith in the rubber under me. It kind of floors me that Nissan would include such clearly inferior tires as standard equipment. Am I expecting too much here or are others also less than impressed with these tires?

Yeah, the RS-A's seem to be pretty crappy tires and are poorly rated on tirerack as well. They are a step up from the Potenza RE92's that Nissan used on the '02-03 Maxima which were absolutely horrid. Nissan must get some incentive to use these tires or they need to fire the team/department that select them.

Thank you for the tip. I'm maybe 2000 miles away from being able to justify dumping them so it's time to start sorting out what comes next. My Infiniti service guy suggested Michelin Primacys; I'll take a hard look at those and the Continentals.

Sedan or Coupe?? Snow or no snow??
DWS's on both of mine....if no snow, would go with a summer only like Yoko S-drive.
Like them on the X, but on the coupe don't like them as much as the S-Drive's I had ....
RS-A's that I had were OK with grip, but wore out way too fast.

Sedan in Dallas, not exactly Snow Central. I'm less concerned with wear than just having something that'll grip the road better when it rains.

Had the S-Drives on my coupe and the Conti DS's on the 09 sedan. The Contis were better imo.

Pilot Super Sports on my coupe are far superior n the rain to Conti DWS and hankook V12 Evo's I've had on there.

How much more $$ for the super sports? Was about 150 more than the DWS I put on my stock 19's (these are larger 20's). Granted, the Hankook V12's were FAR cheaper.

Michelin pilot AS sports are the very best tires I have ever driven. Really, really good dry, and probably the best in rain. And in snow they are better then half tracks!

I put them on 17" wheels for 600 tire cost in 2011. And got 30,000 miles which for my lead foot is great. Just retreaded for 825...ouch. Still worth it. If you have 18"...well expect to pay thru the teeth for that vanity. Probably 200-250 per tire. That's one reason I refused the bigger hubs. The other is I'd rather have more sidewall vs. Lower profile...for better highway ride....

I leased a '96 Pontiac Grand Am (don't ask) that came with RS-A's back in the day. Therefore, you can imagine my disappointment when I saw them on my brand new Infiniti in late 2009. Needless to say, the tires didn't even make it 4000 miles until I deemed them completely unacceptable, and they were replaced with a set of RE050A's. They were good tires, but wore out after about 20K miles. I stepped up to Michelin Pilot Super Sports and have been delighted ever since. Quiet, responsive, long lasting, and the best gripping street tire I've ever purchased. In fact, I liked em so much that I outfitted my other car with a set also. The good news is that there are a lot of choices out there for replacement, most all of which are superior to the RS-A. It just stinks that Infiniti would even put a tire completely unworthy of a G37 on there to begin with..

was rid of my RSA tires in less than a year after getting my G37x... i went with the P-Zero after the RSA, now im on Nitto Motivo. I think ill try the Pilot Sports next if they cost about the same as my Nitto Motivo. so far i like these Nitto tires the best. car feels like a tank in the rain, the grip is amazing.

Just purchased a 2010 G37X with 15K miles. The more I drive it the more I think the tires - Eagle RS-A's - are squirrely. They seem to drift around more than expected. Haven't really tried in rain or snow yet but am going to begin convincing the wife that new tires are needed. Very nice to hear others commenting and confirming what I've been thinking. Will look at TireRack for all season performance tires that will be decent in the snow/ice. Thanks.
