I have a friend with a 2000 Honda Accord SE with the 4 cyl. motor. The auto transmission seems pretty messed up. She has had the car since it was new and never had the trans fluid changed in it (i don't know if it was ever to a shop unless there was a problem ). 80,000 miles on it.

The symtoms:Hard getting it to move from a standstill (sometimes have to gas it).Sometimes doesn't creep forward like autos do at all.Black fluid.Hard shifting.

Well, what I'm asking is... Is it too late to do a flush? Are we looking at serious damage? What would be a good flush procedure for this situation? Find a shop with a flush machine or drop pan/change filter in driveway? (I've seen some flush threads but thought I'd ask anyway)

Another thing... One shop has already told her they won't do it.

i would not reccomend flushing it. i would just do a drain and fill with HONDA trans fluid or whatever the service manual reccomends.

most hondas dont have a bottom "pan". they just have a two piece case with a drain plug.
