Not A Bad Head Gasket 2.4 ?

Working on my 1990 4x4 with 2.4.
It was parked by the previous owner due to coolant in the oil.
I verified the coolant in the oil as well as some oil in the coolant.
Plus the 2 or 3 times I had it running it smoked heavy and white.
I pulled the head today.
Weird thing, the head gasket appears fine as well as the head.
I didn't look under the head gasket which is still on the block.
Does anyone know another area to look for regarding this cross contamination?

Another area to consider is the engine's front cover. After the timing chain guide has failed, the chain rides across the aluminum front cover and eventually wears through into a coolant passage. As for the smoke, some of the nasty mix may have gotten pushed through the PCV system into the intake tract, I'm not sure though.

Sure enough it was from chain wear.
