The listing indicated seats "covered since new" and now the listing shows the front seats ... very nice.elwesso wrote:Unfortunately I bet the interior is trashed... Why else would you have the ghetto fab seat covers?
The most important are the service records, especially the Infiniti Dealer performed service history.cmccort wrote:It is the car on ebay and the carfax is solid the seller claims is belonged to a mechanic. I am not sure about the ecu ....
Pull it and look. Don't see how it could run right if it is not. Can't imagine one would put NOS on and not upgrade it. Possible, but it wouldn't run well.cmccort wrote:So do you think it is a safe bet that the ECU has been upgraded?
The interior, wheels and brakes make it a good purchase at the minimum. You better become friendly with your local NOS dealer because everything I've read says that it is addictive!!cmccort wrote: I am pretty stoked!!! I was able to purchase the car for $4250.00, less than what I thought I would get it for. I think I got a pretty good deal if all is as described. I will be flying to LA next week to pick it up so I keep you posted. I look forward to getting started on the upgrades and will look for any expertise anyone may have.
Thanks
So basically, for someone such as myself intending to keep the car until igasoline is no longer available, ANY sort of performance upgrade is going to take from longevity. Makes sense, and it just isn't worth it (for me). Something's gotta give!Q45tech wrote:The RE4R03A is rated at 305 lb/ft of torque vs the newer RE5 @ 333 lb/ft.
Obviously a 75 HP shot will exceed the peak torque by 100 lb/ft at 4,000 rpm this is 33% Higher than published rating.
Whether each 14 second run acts like 1,000 miles or 5,000 miles is unknown.
But the same thing happens with a ecu reprogram as the torque exceeds the rating................. maybe only 10-15 lb/ft or 3-4%.
Or a supercharger which would be 10-15% above specs.
Anytime you increase the torque you decrease the AT LIFE. The question is how much is tolerable?
Will 6 quatermile runs destroy a transmission probably not if it is brand new, will 60 or 600 For Sure.
Besides the Nitrous cost I would add $50 per Nitrous run to pay for transmission replacement.
Much cheaper than the $20,000 per run that top fuel racing requires.
