Stillen has a $1000 kit, but I dont think its for gen2 Qs. The whole problem with doing stuff like this to a high-value luxury car is the prospect of destroying something beautiful. Sure, that 4.1 is bulletproof, but all the engineering factors that went into it to make it so durable changes when you inject it with NOS.

If it were me, I'd buy a $500 CRX and blow the snot out of it for a few months for thrills.

As long as you limit NOS to something like a 50 HP shot and create fail safes so that it doesn't activate prior to say 3,000 rpm and you monitor fuel pressure to make sure NOS doesn't come on if the pressure doen't rise...........probably safe.

BUT the 4 speed AT transmission is torque limited and a 50 HP shot [45lb/ft at 6k> 90lb/ft at 3k] will grossly exceed the 300 lb/ft limit.......meaning serious degrading of life...........it might fail the first time or never.

You can pulse the NOS so it hits softer and cuts off before the shift and just use it in 2nd gear.......most economical in use and refill frequency.

Most want to smoke the tires on launch, this is where the trannies die as the torque is always the highest just after activation and decreases with rpm since the amount of NOS is fixed

I think NOS on a Q is a long shot, you'd be sorta saying the car was no longer going to be a daily driver. The car isn't the fastest but sure as hell is not the slowest car on the road either. Go get yourself some bigger tires and rims, that will make you happy for while. Also, if you see there is a thread about some coilovers that may become available, do the handling thing. I have a 97 touring also, the 245/45 17 Yoko ES100's made a huge difference.

If a 75HP shot uses 2.5 pounds in 14 seconds, a 50 HP shot uses 1.75 pounds/14seconds or 0.1214 pounds per second...........most passes might require 5 seconds worth say 0.6 pounds...........15 passes at best from 10 pounds sure beat refilling every 4 quarter mile runs.

The problem with NOS is all the auxillary items: pressure gauges, remote bottle openers, heater blankets that double the system price.

Most get tired of refilling the bottle every 2 weeks. In an emergency you don't have time [or the presence] to turn the system on!............or worse you run out in the middle of a pass and lose a second you counted on.

And make your car even slower, unless you pay particular attention to wheel weight (and strength) and overall diameter.
