id have to agree w/ the man. idk much about other diffs since i just slapped in my s15 hlsd and that was pretty much it. i hear hlsd is not the way to go if u want to drift though.

the autocross today was great and the sticky a** kumhos made me pretty happy... i should still be going faster though... best time was 88.9 which is pretty average, the fast cars were in the high 70s today. i did murder lots of cones. vids will be up once i get it all edited out.

Well well well, this thread is still goin...very nice. What up guys, been a while lol. My comp took a dump on me a while back thanks to my siblings, now im on this micro laptop....i hate it. But it works so i cant really complain.

Hows everything goin wit everyone? All i really remember is miro, dat an Njdevil lol. I'll try to get on here a few times a day, jus curious is you guys are still playin around wit club loose. I'd love to go, but that $75 stopped me in my tracks, i love drifting...but on top of the cost of tires n the risk of breakin somethin....thats pricy as hell. I'd much rather stay on the strip for like $28 n know ima drive home Atleast for now...until my cash flow is a lil better

No....no drifting off cliffs lol. If that your pink petunia??? What a transformation....plus LS1, damn, you sure thats the same car? What have i been up too? In short got laid off back in Nov, but i got hired about a month ago at this mostly exhaust shop. They have me welding, doin inspections n your regular mechanic work, but at a much better price my old crappy shop was

Once I fight back the bill monster I plan on goin all out on my car, but recently was thinkin about getting a later model 240, when I can afford it lol. Im jus comin to the realization that my S13 has far to much rust to be a long term keeper and project...really not sure if its worth dumpin that kinda money into this one...it jus has some sentimental value to me lol. So I may keep it as a track car, again this is all speculation, but I sure could go for a s14

Is that the low version fender roller? Where did you get that from?

Steve, S14 would be sweet. My s*** was a rust bucket too... took a month to fix all of it. But you're welding for a living now... Rust repair will be cake.

So are you getting new coilovers or what? Make it lower. You'll go faster. And get more women and stuff...

hahaha the more women part is tempting man... it really is. now cover ur ears for what im about to say, it verges on blasphemy.

im thinking about going a lil higher, at most a 1/4". how the car was before at about 1" fender gap the control arms were parallel to the ground. after i lowered it as far as it would go i noticed the car had more body roll, i expected that since i knew that i would be fking up my suspension geometry but i said fk it all i want the sexy look.

im toying w/ the idea of relocating my suspension pick up points. if i can raise the control arms on the inside itll compensate for the lowering and will help my rollcenter. theres alot of other things im toying w/ such as alignment settings and sways... i may just remove the rear sway and see how the car grips. i noticed in my video that in one turn i was just about to lift the inside rear, and that is very much a no no w/ a helical diff lol.

most work on the red car is stalled (i hope) the cars running good and set up well enough to race in till i get a better feel for dodging cones.

this weekend is gonna be an all out drinking and wrenching session for me. i am soooooo sick of seeing the silvia sitting there doing nothing. anyone that wants to come and help out, watch, or just drink some beers and eat some food is more than welcome. im focused on having the engine bay cleared out this weekend and having the car at atx by next week.

miro, let me know if ur gonna be at slidewayz some time this week (preferably after 6) i really want to see the car. if u still got my number hit me up or if u want to come by my house this weekend ur more than welcome. i could use the motivation/inspiration.

I'm going to let you in on a super secret of speed. Ride height overcomes EVERYTHING. Yeah, lowering the car messes up the roll center, gives you bump steer, screws up the alignment if you don't have the adjustable arms to fix it, blah blah, etc. But the speed you lose from those crappy things, you will gain back (and then some) due to having lower center of gravity. Pick up any book on racing suspension setup, and they all pretty much say the same thing: do whatever it takes to get the car as low as possible, then worry about fixing the problems that go along with having the car stupid low.

Anyway, I'm not saying you MUST lower the car, but in theory it will go faster the lower it is. And it will look better and get you more women.

About the rear tires lifting off, try stiffening the front bar or springs. It's probably lifting the rear because your front is rolling over too much going into turns. Big sway bars are good. The less the car rolls, the faster it will react to your inputs. Tires will also stay in contact with ground better since the camber won't be changing due to car rolling. Also, lot's of camber in front. -3.5 degrees is good for autox/street. I've done autox with -5 before and cornering was super awesome. Braking starts to suck at that point though because you're only using inside of tires to stop the car. So real easy to lock brakes.

Are you trying to stay in a specific class for autox or just trying to go as fast as possible?

Going to swing by Slidewayz at some point to pick up my wing that broke off but not going to stay long. Would love to stop by and check out the cars and stuff face, but have to build someone a cage for east coast bash. So that's probably going to take all weekend. But will give you a call if it miraculously gets done early.

Nino, I have a MAF. $20. I'm in the garage all weekend. Call me if you're going to come get it.

Yeah, let me know. Or I can bring it with me to east coast bash next weekend if you're not in a hurry, and you can get it there.
