Hey guys - our season has started. The event that was held March 9th was pretty good and had a large turnout. Temperatures were in the mid thirties to high forties but didn't stop auto-X'ers from running. Track layout was fast but also technical. I liked it a lot. Average time was, I would say, is 55 seconds. I managed to sprint a 53.999 as my fastest run which placed me 7th in my class. My brother, who also drives an S14, managed to put down a 55.007 as his fastest time. Excitement ruled me through most of the day which led me to enjoy my sliding sprints more than analyzing and improving my runs. A link to the results- thanks to mirochuki13: https://axwaresystems.com/axor...8.htmI recently installed a VLSD in my S14 which bumped me up a class. I very happy to have upgraded. Rotating the car is - as expected - easier on the turns but has also given my car a bit of understeer - when saving the car from coming in to hot on a corner. A thicker front sway bar should help me with that issue, meanwhile, I'm going to try and drive the car faster with its current configuration. Sorry, no pictures. I'll bring my camera on next event.Has anyone else started with their season? Let us hear about it.

The weather gods so far have not been kind, but AWD lets me get away with it, unless I'm driving the Miotter. 3/23 was a great week. Minimal turnout, very fast layout, and we were done by 2pm.

The Sunday events are getting too crowded for my tastes, and due to work constraints, I won't be attending them for a while. I'll be there on Fridays though, even though this will kill a lot of my vacation time.

I see a lot of Silvias at these AutoX's. I know two on here personally already, but don't know about the others.

check FCSCC.com for an event on the 20th.

NER SCCA's Event 1 is April 13th, so that's where I'll be.

Just recently finished getting my car streetable again

The first event this year (T&T) I drove to with snow coming down on my way in, with my Azines on. That was fun!

I'll be at the 4-26-2008 NNJR event in Englishtown this coming Saturday. I need to dial in the alignment and play with the boost controller a bit

I also have to work on not hitting cones! I lost the last 2 events due to coneage

I ended up skipping out since the forecast was for rain (which it didn't). I'll be there this weekend on the 24th (NNJR @ Englishtown) since I encountered a problem with my brakes at the last NER event. I've got some bugs to work out before the Devens, MA Tour event....

ok well, I stopped trying and started doing and this is what happened...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jxKlag5vKg

t'was a fast course, average of about 48 sec for most cars. my brother and I were fluctuating between high 47 secs to high 48secs. another member from nico, mirochuki, manage to bring a trophy. this was a late friday event that started at 2pm. the event flowed nicely 'cuz there wasn't much cars, probably 70 at most, and everyone did 8 runs consecutively - its usually 4 runs/2 heats on sunday events. it made runing and navigating the course mush easier and helped me to keep in mind the better lines to take. The event just flowed nicely. I intstalled new control arms in the rear - toe and camber - to get more traction. it worked exactly as i expected and now i'm adjusting to the new settings (more understeer).

Yeah. I was a bit iffy at first about running on the track but after walking and driving it it wasn't actually that bad (seemed like it was going to be too fast in a couple spots).

Quote » how was the track? how did they design the course?
The track was alright. It's still fairly new so the pavement was smooth. The course was designed well, pinching up in a couple spots, and opening up after, really rewarding the "slow-in, fast-out" approach. Unfortunately, my brake bias was all funky so I did horribly, hitting multiple cones on every single run (15th of like 22 in Pro).

My GF didn't do much better, but considering how little development had gone into the car before that event, it wasn't TOO bad, and definitely a learning experience. Perry got a few pretty good pics of her on the last slalom:

Quote » I missed a good one . I'll try to attend the following events from now on.
Unfortunately the "Pro" season has started, so I won't be making it to many local events with the 240. I've got DC this weekend, then Toledo, then Finger Lakes, then a long break until Nationals, so if I came to another NJ event, it'd probably be sometime in August (if it doesn't coincide with NER).

my bro and I and a couple of friends attended a Porsche club event this past Sunday. the course averaged about 65 secs. with the FTD at the high 56. the course had a right turn skid pad right at the beginning after a right-left turn, followed by sweepers and ends with a 4 cone slalom. here's a video of my bro that I filmed using my digi cam (warning: shaky) and also, a in-car vid of my best run of the day.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmgKHChk ... XaJ2H-0I'm getting used to my new settings. the hankooks seems to perform nicely with the front at 33psi and the rears at 37. i still need to lighten the front-end tho - contemplating of removing the bumper support...

What class are you competing in? I think the only SCCA class you can do that in is Prepared/ Mod (not Street Mod), but it might be different if you're running with a different club/ ruleset.

Also, why do you think you need to lighten the front? I've got zero CF or weight reduction up front and my car is at 54% front weight bias, which isn't bad.

I don't compete in SCCA yet, I mostly run with MotorsportsNorthEast and the NJ Porsche Club. Both clubs have different rule sets. MotorSportsNE is somewhat like SCCA but less strict and Porsche club is entirely different - if you dont drive a porsche, you're either stock class or modified - but I'm not modifying to fit a class, I want my car to feel a certain way so that it will be fun to drive in any layout. you might agree that a lighter front end would help rotate the car using the throttle. I know that the 240 has front weight bias and that on some corners - i might be coming in too hot, but I'm interested to see if taking out the bumper support will have significant effect on my cars performance. is your bumper support still on your 240? is your hood stock?
