Ok , so i was doing some general mantinence on my rb20 today and decided to check my ignition timing. It was a little off so i decided to reset it, now this is where my question comes in. I did it according to everything ive read, warmed up the engine, revved it a couple times and then unplugged the tps. i set it back to the factory *15 BTDC but when i plugged the TPS back in it went to *0 ? Is this what its supposerd to do? I thought it was supposed to stay at *15?

Sounds like you did it right, but I have never had luck with setting the timing with the TPS disconnected. The rpms fluctuate a ton or the engine dies. So I just set the timing with the TPS plug connected.

the tps unplugged bit during timing is a misnomer...the tps needs to be plugged in so the car knows its at idle.

Ill try it that way and see. I unplugged my battery to see if it stays at *15 after the computer resets, i dunno, could be another issue all together . Its been kinda boggy lately and has started idleing weird, thats why i decided to do some R.M. on it.(edit) thanks guys(edit)
