Hello, i just got a another vlsd from venus, i cleaned the insides of the diff and added 2 qts of redline heavy duty shockproof gear oil, and when i turn the rear clunks bad mainly in slow sharp turns, will it woek its way out once the fluid runs through it for a while?

Thanks

Happen to get any pics of the inside of the diff? It may have a clutch-type unit in the VLSD pumpkin.

Agreed.

RB20: VLSDs should never clunk. You probably lucked out and got a clutch diff.

a clutch type will definately clunk, but at low speeds...so will a welded diff.

Yeah, i just threw it in im so tired of funking with diffs, but i could tell the back case has been opend before, and compared to my r32 one this one will break it loose easy an be all over the road.

Well.......................................... Woke up took a drive and its clunking again, i guess i jumped the gun BAD im gonna drain the heavyweight redline out and put in some 75w-90 gear oil, if that doesnt help, drop the funker AGAIN and open it up and take some pics.

If it is clunking, you obviously have a clutch diff. This is the reason that it locks up so well. You lucked out and got something much better than a vlsd. Clutch diffs require a specific type of gear oil, so DO NOT run regular 75w90. Find out exactly what kind of diff it is before doing anything else. If it is a clutch diff as I suspect, it will clunk when you turn at low speeds. Get used to it and learn to love the superior locking capability of your diff.

KAAZ's take any kind of oil.

If the inside tire doesnt skip around slow corners its a Clutch type diff... if the inside tire skips its a welded.

A loose driveline component will clunk as well. Could include loose driveshaft to 3rd member hardware, axleshaft to 3rd member hardware, or the 3rd member can actually be loose itself.
