What is the normal operating temperature for a CVT transmission (when measured from the OBDII port using a scan tool, i.e. BullyDog tuner)?

My car's transmission will get up to 290 degrees Fahrenheit which seems awfully high, too high! In addition, the longer the car is running for, the higher the temperature reaches. There doesn't seem to be a value where the temperature levels out and begins to cool itself. I am wondering if there is something wrong with my cooling system. Located in the front of the car are duel-mounted radiators (I think the front one is for the transmission and the rear one is for the engine) which should both be warm/hot after driving, right? My front radiator is ice cold to the touch.

Can someone please confirm this and post how hot your transmission fluid gets.

Thanks.

In reply to my own response,

I just came from the dealership and the normal range is 122-176 degrees F. Then I had them compare my temperature readings using their Consult-II computer, which showed my car is running within range.

In conclusion, the Bullydog GT tuner was giving a wacky number. Bullydog is a device made for a wide range of vehicle applications and is not specific to just nissan, which is why all the readings it takes may not be accurate. So if you are having a similar problem/experience, that is the answer. No worries!

Also found out the "front radiator" is the air conditioning condenser, and that the "back" radiator cools both engine and transmission.

You can run it safely between 180-200 or so... s*** will hit the fan though if it gets to 230-240+

Although this is for the 3.5... I'm unsure on the 2.5

i had the same issue and bought and installed a B and M transmission cooler and my car feels great noe on hot days. so getting a transmission cooler will not hurt at all.
