I got new tires, and I went with a lower profile (for handling purposes)

Kuhmo 195/50/15's, they handle nicely...

but...

My speedo is off, and while the acceleration feels slightly better, I know for a fact my top speed is gonna suffer :(

Is there anyway to prevent that? Just curious, not that I need to go 110, but I cant help but wonder.

Oh, and I have some REDICULESS fender gap ;)

see if you can change the drive gear for the speedo cable to bring back on-line. You can't go 110 because of a computer cut or the engine runs out of steam?

if u had s13 SE rims, those are the same size, but slightly smaller profile (i believe stock is 65s), and that shouldnt have made a difference on your speedo

the difference from a 195/60-15 tire and a 195/50-15 tire is 19.5 mm of sidewall.

thats 1.5 inches of lost tire height, or 4.7 inches of circumference.

makes a difference.

6.2% to be exact

hes lost 6.2% of his top speed. the speedo is also reading 6.2% faster than the car is actually going.

the original question was: how can I prevent that?going to back to the old tires is one..

or recalibrate the speedometer...ever police cars does it every 6 months (don’t ask me how i know that) so i bet there are plenty of places that will do it...or just go to your local PD and ask them where they do it

Apex-i rev/speed meter if you don't mind km/h. Cost more than the freq. multiplier/divider but has some other functions as well. About $200.

Same here. Mine came with the "broken cams/timing belt" mod.

They are governed at 112mph. Even my SR20DET is governed at 112. It was kind of embarassing to be following my friend in his 92 Integra LS and have him pull away from me on the freeway.

You're also gonna get poorer gas mileage, I'd like to know what the effect on the fuel economy will be...

..oh ya, and i'd also like to see some pictures of the wheel gap :D

Meh, we know who's the real winner. Honda *cough* er... Nissan.
