My daughter was in an accident recently that totaled her 99G20.We found her a 00 Max SE with 63K miles.

Questions:Are there belt replacement instructions on this forum? I've replaced them before on my 01 Pathy. Is there any benefit of letting the dealer do it??

Would you do a drain and fill on the transmission or have the dealer flush?Would you do a drain and fill on the anti-freeze or have the dealer flush?

I assume it's time to change both fluids.We are big Nissan fans.Past Nissans: 91 240sxse, 2001 Pathy 4x4SE5sp, 2003 Pathy 4x4LE, 2002 MAX SE, 99 G20 (RIP)

Thanks!

Car looks to be in great shape!Glad to see you're back in the Maxima family.

You can find details on changing the belt on page 15 of the maintenance section of the FSM (which you can find here).I can think of one major benefit to having the dealer do it for you: it is CRAMPED down there. Aside from that, though, I don't see any real benefit to having the dealer do it.

Concerning the transmission fluid and antifreeze...It certainly can't hurt. For me it would depend on how well the car had been treated before. With only 63k miles, I think I'd only do it if the previous owner's maintenance habits were in question. I'm sure other people would be more meticulous and go for it anyway...maybe I would, too. Actually, I think the real factor for me would be whether I felt like paying the dealer to do the flush or not.
