Konichiwa!
I'd like to introduce you to my 4th and newest vehicle.
A Nissan Skyline V35 2350gt.
I dunno what to say about her, other than she's nice, she's not a G35, or (350gt) (well she is, just with lower displacement.)
She's straight from JDM Land and yes I know, you guys require pics.

Note, the weather's been horrible here it's been raining all week and today it let up enough for me to consider washing the car. (it REALLY makes no sense to wash when it's raining because of constant road work/dirt that end up on the vehicle after it rains)

anyways enough mindless babble, onto the pics!

When I get some time to, I promise i'll take some more pics, As of Now I have a video of engine startup that I am going to upload so you can hear how quiet this thing is. :/ 350z Mid and y pipe anyone? :naughty:

I know it's kinda unoriginal but, This is the inspiration I have for the car so far. I'm probably not going to end up exactly like that... but close is a high possibility.

Anyways, Nico has been my home for a good while, It feels really nice to finally have my own nissan (an affordable, RWD...sedan. )

I'll update this as slowly as I can. :D

Very nice. I've never driven a 2.5L version, how different is it?

I doubt it's far off from the 3.5L version, there's a less than 80hp difference. So you'd only really notice it when flooring the car. But around town the ECU i'm hardly EVER above 2k rpm. The gearing for this thing is ridiculous, If I wanted to conserve as much fuel as possible I can easily see how to do it in this car.
With the 'Power" mode turned on, and it in "manual" mode, you really get to feel the grunt of this car.
I left it in first while exiting a plaza once and was pleasantly surprised when the car got sideways at about 70% throttle.

So at about 1-3k rpm there really isn't much going for it because this is the 'fuel efficiency range' I presume but after 3.5k rpm The motor wakes up and the car goes into its own.

It's certainly a much larger vehicle than my altezza, but it really doesn't feel like it in the slightest (only when im parking I realize how large the car really is) (some f*cker dinged me twice in less than 5 minutes.)

The first day I disliked it because I thought it was a 350gt model *had some wool in the ole eyes*

but even with the absence of manual, it's still a quite enjoyable car.

It really matters not the HP if you enjoy the vehicle. Over the years I've had numerous vehicles that were anemic in power but I remember being fun.

Also! I just managed to scrape the hell out of my frame rails and exhaust by going on a ramp designed for an suv. I would've sworn I had clearance until I did not. And became Stuck.

LOL...yeah, that's quiet. It's weird driving my wife's sedan because it's stock and my coupe is so loud.

Clearance can be an issue even when you are not dropped. I'm 2" lower so there are some roads with speed bumps that I don't even attempt to go down.

It is funny that you said that Aud. I have had cars that will nail you to the back of the seat, but it is also fun to have a car that you can just keep your foot in all the time. My car is the slowest car I have owned in decades, but it handles great and is a blast to drive.

Nice car noob and welcome to NICO

nice! RHD

i too have never drove the 2.5 version of the G/skyline... they not making the G25 any more i believe, at least not for US market. G25 has 218 HP, G35 has 280-305 HP, G37 328 HP... i guess i can see how the G25 and G35 wouldnt be too much difference.

Update, Coming from a 6 speed manual altezza to a 4 speed auto skyline is a big difference.
This car is massive compared to the altezza. It's not much heavier, but it is larger in length and width.
That being said, it's much more powerful.
in the altezza, I knew when I was speeding and when i wasn't
But with the auto transmission and about 20% throttle speed climbs rather quick for a vehicle this size.

But, it doesn't stop as fast as it gets up to speed.
the brakes on it are seriously lacking, there's even a slight vibration when hard on the brakes.
i'm probably going to have to upgrade the brakes because i'm used to trans braking as well as foot brakes.

I guess i'll get used to it.

Look around for a used Akebono system from a G37 and upgrade them. You will need a custom adapter that is available online. Hell, I think tunerzstore.com still sells the Akebono kit

Hmm, Should I do suspension or brakes first?
I changed the pads (and my driving habits) and they're okay to me right now.

The next thing I plan to do is a diy ground kit with some spare 4 gauge wire i have laying around (had like 3 sets of 4 gauge power wire that is now unused, bought some ring and spade connectors and am gonna jerry rig a grounding kit, was going to do it today but rain suddenly came out of nowhere and didn't let up for about 2 hours, so I washed and waxed instead.

Genius move.

car's still dirty. just spend like 2 hours washing and waxing. Still rained'd and had to drive and get splashed by water settled on the road. Meh. You lose some I guess.

But there will be pics of the grounding kit installation.

If the factory brakes were junk I would tell you to do the brakes first, but they seem to do OK. In your case I'd set the suspension the way you want it and then do brakes.

There's something to be said about waiting.

Yesterday I went to help a friend roll some fenders on a g35 coupe, and long story short dude is willing to sell me his oem springs for $50, and the oem shocks for $50. For a grand total of $100 for the springs and shocks combo. Compared to some other dude who wanted to sell me oem 350z springs/shocks for $300
Image
Both guys have coils on their car, one's just looking to turn a profit. the other is just looking to get rid of parts.

I'm happy with that.

In other news.
found this website http://www.adamsrotors.com/16149/0/0/22 ... i-g35.html
With some ASTOUNDING prices on brake rotors (i honestly thought they would be a whole lot more expensive, but for the listed price a whole lot of customization can still be done (aka drilled, slotted, drilled and slotted. )

And it is a very sexy and tempting offer.

Time to break out that lbd and show some leg on the highway to make some cash.

Didn't get a chance to do my grounding kit because I went and helped my friend do the fender rolling (basically did it myself) He has pics and i'll ask him to send me 'em so I can post up here.

The g35 was a beauty though.

So I did the opposite of wire tucking today.

Started with that ^

Did this. V

Then this V

And ended up with this V

I cut all of my wires about 2-3 inches too long. For a cleaner install I'd just subtract an inch rather than add an Inch when using this guide.

Oh btw, this is the guide I used.

Looks good.

Never heard of Adams rotors. I'm using StopTech PowerSlots on both of my cars and 100% satisfied at this point.

I found out about them on *insertrivalforumnamehere* g35driver.com and a few people really like their work.
I like the fact that it's not overly expensive and it's made to oem spec and that they give you the ability to customize them.

I'm highly considering purchasing a pair when I add more power.

Why are you putting grounding wires on the engine?

Because the Auto tragic transmission, along with the lighting, and sound inside the car were begging for proper grounding. The auto trans wouldn't shift quickly, the interior lights would flicker with music played above 50% volume and its a common thing to do with g35's and 350z's.
All of these problems were remedied with the grounding.
