NOOB with a 1996 G20

Hello all. Just want to say hello, and thanks to all in advance for future advice. I have a 2004 Nissan Xterra XE 4X4, Great SUV, but the gas milage sucks, so I just picked up a G20 cheap, It runs great with 156,000 miles on it. When I got it from this friend of mine told me that it runs until it gets warm, then if you shut it off it wont start again. Said that it was something with the Distribitor, maybe needs to be replaced? But when its running..its ok, when trying to restart it it, it wants to start but not all the way. Also has 3 codes coming up on my scan gage. P0734 (A/T 4th signal or TCC) not sure what that is.. also P0325 Knock sensor and P0125 ECT Sensor (Engine coolant Temp sensor ?) as well as the ABS light on and the AirBag light comes on and off. If any of these items that I have stated has happened to you please tell me if you can what it was, and if you needed to get it fixed. Thanks again for your time.

Start with the crankshaft position sensor, seen that a lot, when it gets hot it goes open, the only reason that the vehicle doesn't shut down is because the vehicle has set values that it will use to keep running. But I would start with that. As far as the ECT is your gauge reading wrong, usually that just means that the sensor went bad and it needs replaced. Does the car do anything real unusual?

Thanks for your reply, Umm the only other thing it does, is that it does shift a little funny, like skipping a gear. But again I just got it and have not really driven it much at all to notice anything else. I had it running yesterday with no prob. I shut it off and it turned it back on and it started right away, I did that like 6 times in a row and no prob. But today i started it and let it run for like 10 mins, turned it off, and it does not start, motor cranks over and it sounds like it wants to start but it didn't.I was told it may be the coil Module in the distrib, and it may be a starter relay not sending the full 12volts to the ignition. Not to sure yet. It needs a few things done to it, like it needs new brakes, I have to change the radiator (got a leak) and new tires. I got the car for $600. bucks and its in Nice shape. And driving my 2004 Xterra back and forth to work is killing me in gas, so with this car i don't mind putting in a few bucks to get it going better so i can just use it to go back and forth to work. Car ins will only cost me less than $200. a year so I think its worth farting around with it. If it dies then I'll just take my plates off and leave it... Any sugestions will help thanks again.. Rob
