But with 65K miles, you probably don't need to change the plugs. IIRC, theyare speced for 105K miles, and I think that's conservative. I replaced mine at about 90K because I was having a problem. It didn't fix the problem, whichturned out to MAF sensor, and the ones I took out looked good. These modernplugs, and having a coil per plug, means long plug life.
Coils are just do it. IIRC, remove a bolt, and pull a bit. IIRC, #1 coil is different. I'd put them back where they came from.
What makes you think you need to change the coils? What's the code?
CT that's good info. On board with the NGK> It started with jerking and stalling so Autozone's code reader Id'd the MAF, which I changed. Then a few days later it happenned again so I took in to Infinity. The codes at the dealer mentioned coil 1 & 5 (can't find their receipt to tell you the exact codes). I got an independent foreign car mechanic to give it a second look and he said "after individually testing each coil, they determined the coils were fine and that it was one of the spark plugs at which point he recommended switching all".
An odd question for you is, what is "IIRC"?
I looked in the engine bay and pinpointed all the coils, looks like the driverside might be a bit tricky, but time and patience will get it done.
There's conflicting info on the tools and from reading a bit I gather the 3.5 doesn't come with the tool set under the rear seats becasue it doesnt use it since the 6th plug is not in the same spot as on the 3.3L. What are your thoughts on that? THANKS A MIL
