Hey i planning on building a kat i picked up a complete tubo kit for 100$ it came with sr sidemount with pipeing,safc1,blown t25 turbo, all oil lines, manifoild, bov, so bassically all i need to do is get another t25 turbo im getting my ka today for 250$ with 65,000 miles i only plan on running it on 7 to 10 psi im going to order sr injecters also im just worried about tunning should the safc and aem wide band kit be enough tuning or should i go with a emance ecu or something, im kinda looking for something reliable, its going to be my dd, and weekend fun car its going to be a very basic setup i just dont want to blow the motor up because lack of tuning

A reliable $350 setup?!?

I think a SAFC with retarded timing is a decent option. Skip the wideband and let a shop tune it. Dyno time is cheaper than a wideband (assuming you wont be making any changes).

Just run a FMU(RR-FPR). 8:1 at 8 psi of boost, with a 2-3 degree base timing retard. Its the only smart way to do a budget setup, until someone comes out with an affordable ECU tune that works. SAFC is really limited, its only for fine tuning and is not a full control system.

Emance has a ton of bad rep at the moment, and IMO is not a good option.

My buddy's running Emance (I actually know 2 people running emance).

1 was actually sent a bad tune... but he returned it and got everything handled. He seems to like it.

Its hit or miss, we'v got a member here who had a really bad 8 month experience with Emance. Plus a lot of complaints on the .org. Then there are guys who say that his tunes run great. Like i say, hit or miss. Personally i dont want to fvk around with tuning. Do it right the first time or dont do it at all.

FMU setups are reliable and kick ***. Simple as can be.

ill probobly go with the fmu it seems likes its working for most people what exactly does it do , how much will it cost for a decent one, the reason the turbo kit was so cheap is cause i got it of a freind the guy before him claimed it was a greddy manifoild but i said no its a ebay specieal one but idk

If it's the SSA or XS Racing bottom mount mani then it's fine, they have been proven reliable. A vortech 8:1 FMU with stock injectors and a walbro 255lph fuel pump is going to be a great budget fuel setup. Put off buying bigger injectors until you are getting a rom tune (enthalpy, jwt) to support them.

The FMU just increases fuel pressure for every pound of boost the motor is fed. I don't know a lot about the math behind it, but the 8:1 ratio is good for you.

These guys are right. I forget to consider the FMU route. No need to buy injectors and you can probably sell the SAFC to help pay for an FMU.

Looks like an SSA manifold, though I'm not real familar with them.

Not bad for the price. And I'd trust the parts a bit more if theyre from a friend. Good deal!

ya the reason i got it for so cheap is that he couldnt get his car to run right with it so hope it will work pretty good since im getting a new turbo and have a good maf and distributer
