Hey all! I'm a certified noob. All I'm waiting for is my certificate in the mail. Hopefully it will arrive at around the same time my economic stimulus check comes! The Civic has been my car of choice since I started driving, but it is almost as if I have discovered a really cool car, the s13, overnight. I've read the articles on finding a used s13 and I'm currently in position to buy one as soon as a good opportunity presents itself.

There is something I have tried to search for (with no avail, or possibly due to my noobish nature) with words such as:1/4stock quarterdrag1320do you catch my drift?

What does a stock 91-94 240sx w/ the KA24DE engine do in the 1/4 mile? With the following assumptions:The driver knows how to properly launch and run a RWD car.The car is completely stock. We are drag racing the car at sea level altitude.Stock tires and a non lsd transmission are being utilized.Temperature outside is not cold, and not hot. (vagueness anyone?)

My goal with the 240 would not be drag racing extremism (just curious what it can do in stock form), but an all around fun car, with RWD. Understeer is my realm right now and it's time for new territory to be explored.

I would appreciate anyone who would be willing to write a short passage pertaining to the reliability of the 91-94 240sx from YOUR OWN personal experience.

Well that's me! I hope this is posted in the right forum. If it is not, I will understand a relocation of this thread.

ok

car and driver and all those other places average it at about

16.1 to 16.2

the stock KA dohc puts down about 120-123 whp in stock form in healthy conditions

I had a sohc but blew it before going to the track about 4.5 years ago

with my dohc stock i ran 15.8 ( no emissions, no cat, no p/s, no ac timing at 20*)

the car is old and needs attention to minor suspension parts... mainly bushings. i would suggest not just putting random mods on the car.. but learning it driving it getting feedback and modifying accordingly. you will grow much faster

as far as reliable.... its not a b18 bro...... stay below 6800rpms for the most part and you will be golden. the trannies( transmission not a Man who is a Women) are fine untill you start putting down a good amount of power ALL the time.. The stock rear is solid

uni body chassis....... the rest is on Wiki

personally in my 4.5 years with some trial and error and just bad luck at times here is my list

5 motors3 trannies8 clutches2 rear ends

and a turbo setup that has evolved 3 times now and is finial

about 1 gallon of blood and tears

ps

before my 240 about like 4.5 years ago i was big and still am into honda building.. i have alot of buddies with them... i have done all the conversions and wireups and the general swaps.. from Dpfi to Mpfi, vtec , si conversions etc etc...

nissan is easier lol cant believe it.

Welcome, Glad to have some one new that knows how to search and then ask a well writen question.

Not a great expert on these cars but one thng to keep in mind is the timing chains on most cars bought used need to be changed. They will rattle to give a warning. Not that bad a cost to replace and if yo know your way around a tool box not a bad job. Might be able to use that when you talk price:)

I can't speak to reliability as we use ours on a dirt race track and blew a 3x5 hole in the side on our second race! Rebuild of differnt block about 85% done. lack of money is a bit#h.

Welcome and enjoy!
