Hey guys i am starting to remove my head because i broke a couple rocker arms and found some shims in the oil pan. I have the fsm but i just wanted to double check a few things. When i pull the head should i remove the cams and everything or can i leave the cams in as i pull the head. I know i need to remove the timing chain and a few other things. Thanks

Cams have to come out. IIRC, the bolts are underneath the cams. Now, if my memory is serving me wrong, which it occassionally does, you can pull the head out with the cams still in. Just be careful to leave the head on its side because you don't want the valves to get bent.

And if you do have to pull the cams, remember the position each cam holder is in and facing.

there was like 6 or 8 bolts under those cams to remove the head off the block. If you are planning on putting a stock head gasket, you can get the head kit at courtesy nissan for like $85. Came with all the gaskets like head gasket, valve cover, sparkplug rings, valve seals etc.

well i am going to have to rebuild the head. A couple of my rocker arms broke and scared the cams. I am mainly taking the head off to see how bad the pistons are. Thanks again for the help
