I'm still a noob and have plenty to learn about 240's... how's the maintenance on them? My family has owned 2 Nissans both with reputable maintenance, very good cars. I think I'm gonna try to pickup an S13 once I'm in college so I'll have a 2nd car and I just want to know how well they hold up. Since most of them have been driven pretty hard, what can I expect maintenance wise?

plugs, wires, engine oil, trans oil, just the basic every day stuff, and if you get one with low enough miles do the "sea foam" service. I've had a good experience with dailying my 1990 s13 for awhile, even in the winter. my 1990 runs better and is more reliable the my 2005 dd

Maintenance on the car is pretty simple. As jsurges18 ^ stated pretty much the basic everyday things.
Obviously if you buy a beater or drive like Johnny Tran, your going to have more work ahead of you.

^ as stated above!

perhaps you want to check the coolant and hoses esp the radiator one. If a SRI is put into the car, be sure to check if the vacuum lines are good. Mine broke due to bad positioning. The S13 itself is pretty reliable, you don't really have to worry about it too much besides some common problems.

My 89 coupe has been 10x more reelable then my 2008 z was.. Sure stuff is always dripping on the driveway and everything likes to stop working for a few mintues and then start back up... But i beat on the car 99% of the time and it ha never left me on the side of the road...my z did 4 times in 3 months with bills adding up to over 6k...on a car that had under 30k miles and i almost never beat on it...

Definately check your cooling system and do a flush... dont EVER use tap water in a cooling system! make sure you bleed it good

Sea foam is pretty much an injection service that cleans the fuel components and intake mani.

Also the thing with 240's, they tend to suck at bleeding when you change the coolant. They always get air trapped and sometimes overheat. SO, if the coolant is good and green, dont change it and pray the water pump doesnt go lol
