I just heard about the SR20DET engine today, and I have a few questions about it.

1) How much HP is it?2) How much does it cost?3) Where do I get it from?

If you would answer these, it would be greatly apriciated.

Thanks.

What is the difference between the red top, black top, etc... What does that mean?

the redtop SR's are made before 1996, and the Black Tops were only in 96-98 180SX's I believe. I could be off on my years.

Either way, the blacktops are newer, the redtops are older.

So long as you're talking S13 red and blacktops there isn't much difference, as was stated before the blacktops are newer and have some minor ECU changes. The S14 and S15 blacktops are different however.

My bad, I didn't read the whole thing. My humblest (sp?) apologies to all who have gotten dumber by reading my posts.

Belittle me if you must, but is it possible to drop a S15 motor in a 1989 240? (This time I skimmed the sticky)

Yup. Wiring won't be fun though. If you intend to modify your SR20, then get an S13, it's cheaper, and it's arguably better because the intake tract is different. If you don't want to modify your SR, get an S14 or 15, both engines come with variable valve timing, but you'll lose that feature if you upgrade your cams.
