hi noob

exaggerate on the rust spots to knock off that 300.use that extra 300 to save towards a 5speed swap.

you will get tired of the automatic.best to get the manual swap out of the way as soon as possible. or you'll keep putting it off.

yeah the auto has to go you are very right, however I want to do a swap in the future:RB series specifically the RB20DET is what I had in mind but i may end up going KA-T because of school/work complications. either waysuspension is 1st and foremost.

could you tell me a simple yes or no to buying the car?thanks for you input

buy it for 1k.

just piss about the rust and they'll prob drop.

invest 1k in restoring it (if you want to) back to orig.

1k for a running s13 coupe is pretty good.even 1300

Sweet another VA niconaut. The little thing I'd worry about is why there is a funnel and rag just chillin next to the brake master cylinder, as if it were needed to used alot.

Other than that new paint and roll.

I'd pay $1500 tops for a decent bodied coupe that runs.

I would still try to talk him down but, $1300 seems fair.

Alot of people would love to have the chance at a nice coupe for 1300.

thanks for the input guys, there is a guy down the road from me, down the road being like 1.5 miles but he has a 240 that just sits, i think he drives during the summer and has been riding his motorcycle and driving some sedan lately.

anyway i dont know anyone in blacksburg, personally, who has a 240. I have seen a couple around but I don't go to VTech...yet.

1300 is a little high talk him down to 1000

engine bay and interior look decent just make sure there is no frame rail rot take a good look under the car...1000 for a coupe is a good deal

tell him you are looking at something else, and that you'll think about it, let him sweat for a few days and give him one last offer.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some serious frame rot.

good choice man. its not even worth 800 imo. i just picked up a hatch 2 days ago, mint (ZERO RUST) body with auto, same mileage for 1200 with fresh paint job, coilovers and a bunch of suspension upgrades with a clean title history. keep looking!

thanks!

Um quick noob question that I just gotta get out of my head:

Would you ever consider buying a 240sx that has been in a "minor fender bender"

-I am looking at a coupe and it looks great but I have only seen 2 pics so far - waiting for a email response...

But yeah my gut says don't settle for anything but this coupe looks clean and I can get it for a decent price: 800-1000 and it runs well apparently....

so what do you guys think?

p.s.thanks for putting up with my inferiority.

long as there is no frame damage if its just a few dents and you can get it cheap enough I'd buy it

yea you gotta post some pics of this said fender bender. it could be above the tire or it could be right where it meets the headlight, which might damage the fender, headlight cover and hood... but yea if its just a dent, you might be one of a few on this board with a 240 that is one color. price sounds fair, but honestly like i mentioned above, rust free is worth 1k-2k, no lowballing needed.

thanks for the info and alot of help guys I really appreciate it.As far as pics go there are only 2 so far and they don't show damage: unless its in the front and the hood won't close- in which case I wont be interested...

im hoping the hood is just open..

heres the info

1992 Nissan 240sx SE Manual 5speed, pwr windows & locks, cruise, digital speedometer, 147k miles, sunroof, CD player, clear title.

replaced:-Fuel pump Regulator-Slave Cylinder-Distributor Cap& I have done regular maintence such as changing the oil, and replacing the plugs & wires.

It has some cosmetic damage and i have been in a fender bender with it, but nothing that hinders the driving ability of the car.

from the seller..he still hasn't sent me an email so maybe I will call tomorrow.

looks like the fender bender affected the hood, bumper lights and fender. bad pic to tell from, but thats my guess. depends how much you have to invest. if its clean, it might be worth your time and money to find parts and replace, paint, etc... depends how devoted you are.

also , i do like the color. might be hard to source body parts the same color so budget in a paint job when it comes to buying this car.

gross. i wouldnt touch it with a 20ft pole. save your money and buy something that hasnt been beat to hell and back, twice. that color is god aweful, its dented almost everywhere, it just looks like it wasnt taken care of in general.

trust me when i say that you dont want to buy someone elses problem. "but it runs awesome" so did mine when i bought it. until the clutch, transmission, radiator, both headlights, water pump, E-fan, both main seals, and sound system stopped working over the course of about 4 months.

be patient and look for something thats been well maintained.
