Hey guys,

Yes i am being lazy at this time, but it is because i really have looked and havent found a definitive answer yet. I am doing a sr swap as we speak, and i need a few questions answered.
1. Do i need to have my driveshaft shortened or changed?
2. Do i need to keep my CO canister for emissions?

I am doing a s13 blacktop into a 95 s14. I have the wiring harness i bought from someone on here, but it doesnt look to hot so im going to have to do a makeshift repair to the one i got with the engine. Thanks again guys and look forward to hearing back from you all. Pictures are coming...

Stating that you're being lazy, is NOT a good way to get your questions answered, but I'm in a good mood so I'll help you out. Next time try the big search button up top.

1. No
2. Depends on where you live... Most places don't require a 95 model to pass a sniffer test. California might. (Some FYI, that canister has been known to be the cause of a lot of people's idle issues.)

If your wiring harness is sketchy, you may want to consider getting a Wiring Specialties wiring harness.

Bad wiring can cause 1,000 different gremlins that you could spend weeks chasing your tail trying to diagnose and fix.

Omega (here on NICO) sells them, PM him.

The branch is Air Force.

Yea, ive been looking at their wiring harnesses, and would i need to get the lower harness as well? I have been looking around but havent found anything on the lower harnesses(if i need to modify or not).

Thanks again,

Eric

Only thing I remember changing on my lower harness is swapping in the speed sensor from my KA transmission so it would read MPH. (You use the SR lower harness)

technically, you don't need to change the speed sensor out. The VSS outputs the same signal from the KA and SR setups. I think SpeedRacer01 looked up the p/n for both pieces years ago and found them identical. Being that you have a '95, I would recommend looking into getting a professionally done harness. There are no handy guides out there for the wiring on S14s. Also, depending on the time of year the chassis was made, it could be an OBD-I or an ODB-II car, which can change the difficulty of making the swap work. If you're handy with wiring (and being you have a network related AFSC, I can assume you have some electrical aptitude), you can do some harness conversions yourself. I would personally find it easiest to try to convert the KA harness into running the SR. Most of the wiring for running the SR will exist in the KA harness, it will just require some repinning and changing some plugs around (the ECU plug SHOULD be different IIRC). But I can't give you any specifics since I usually deal with S13s (and I know I can get an S13 up and running with a KA harness), so it'll have to be all you and a service manual.

BTW, what is your AFSC? I'm going to be heading to Tyndall to do 13B training in September.

I knew the 2Es were caught up in the communications changeover for the new consolidated Cyberspace communications specialty. That should make you a 3DX now, right?

Yea, most of us are 3D1X2. Some got converted to other positions though.
