so i wanna rebuild the Ka24de i got. i keep reading on kits that you can pick a oversize... do you need to pick a oversize or can i just go standard? I am thinking that maybe you need to because if you try to replace with standard the sizes wont match and compression will be messed, but i dont really know. All i really wanna do is make the engine more reliable it has 230k kms on it just wanna rebuild and put it in and maybe later get a turbo with safe boost. If you guys could tell me whats what i would appreciate it :D Also this is the kit i was looking at http://www.rpmmachine.com/engi...shtml (major kit) is this all i need for what i want?

just rebuild it with some better bearings and rings maybe a set of rods or pistons and port and polish the head thats all you'll need really just make sure you do it right you don't need to much to make these motors pump I'm actually satified with stock but i'm ready to move up

Honestly you don't even need aftermarket rods.As for the oversizing, take the block to a reputable machine shop. Have everything hot tanked and toleranced. This will tell you what shape your cylinder bores are in as well as any differences in bearing lobes.I had to have my bores oversized because of some pitting in 2 of the cylinders. The standard honing was not satisfactory to either myself or the machinist. This called for oversized pistons on top of the machine work. It can sound more complicated than it really is. The key is to simply pay attention to the details. Have the block/crank/pistons/rods/head cleaned and measured first though. That will tell you what direction you need to go in.

gumby74 is right, you cant just pick out pistons and bearings, take it to a good machine shop and tell them what you want your motor to do.read up on the forums, take your time.do it right the first time and you wont have to worry about it later.good luck!

this helps i'm in the same boat but i have already picked up a ebay special kit. well before the bashing it came with a motor and transmission i picked up and the price was 500 for everything. but now i'm looking for a good machine shop here locally. the only bad think is all the stuff is standard so we will see what is usable.
