I'm looking to bail on my current car and was looking at the G35x, but wanted to check with some "experts" on a couple things before I seek out cars to test drive. Most ??? are just clarification.

1. Is the coupe available in an X form?2. Is the X sedan available with a 6MT?3. Assuming no to both 1 & 2, what is realistic gas mileage? I'm 60/40 highway / city4. Does anyone use 87 or would I still be buying 93 octane?5. Is there a "sport" model for the G35X. If so, how would I be able to tell if a car has it?6. How's the AWD?7. Is the stereo really that bad or is it sub-par to true audiophiles? I've had aftermarket setups in most of my cars, but the Bose in my old BMW was amazing. The Symphonic in my Audi is really good, too. So, does the Infiniti's pale compared to those?8. The gripes post was pretty informative, but how about what things make this car really stand out?

Thanks for all the info!

The only thing that stands out is the look of the G. It's just one classy azz car.

Other then that, gas mileage sucks.. It sucks soo bad, the 08 G37 received a better, bigger motor and gets better gas mileage at the same time.

The stereo, navi package is outdated, again, the 08 received a major updates to keep to date with the competition.

The tires on these car last no more then 15k. Avg 8-12k... Tires are known to have feathering and cupping. 350z guys are getting a recall for this.. Infiniti doesn't care about us.

Paint on this car sucks... Soft and scratches very easily.

Road noise is this car sucks. Pops and rattles. Known to have loose bolts all over the car. "rear axle bolt, sunroof bolt. etc etc...

But again, the outside looks amazing.

If you can block out all the flaws, like most of us here. Then you will be happy.

Welcome to NICO!!

Let me answer your questions. For more detailed answers, search around the forum.

1. NO2. ...nope3. about 21mpg...depending on your foot4. premium fuel is recommended5. not sure...it might say "S"6. Great in the snow, slower performance due to extra weight.7. ...true audiophiles...yup, its that bad. No bass output for the Bose system. I've added a sub/amp and love the results!8. let me list some:-VQ engine is amazing. It's been in the top 10 best engine list for years now.-styling...gotta love the G35 lines -value, resale value is very high-handling (coupe 6MT) is outstanding!! -The fact that you're considering buying one should tell you something

Joe, are you sure the G35x is available with the 6MT? Everything that I've read and seen as shown otherwise.

...I take it back...you have to get the Sport 6MT. The AWD model does not offer a manual trans. Not really up on my new sedan options

Well it looks like verbatim is the only one on this site that knows what they're talking about (sorry, couldn't resist poking fun at the obvious troll).

Thank you for the info! It looks like I'm scouting a G35X which will be an auto sedan by default. I shouldn't be looking for a sport model.

Does the 21mpg figure stand given the AWD sedan?

thanks again,

my sticker says 19/25 for mileage. seeing as how you're coming from a 40/60, I'm sure you'll have no problem with the performance of the car, but definitely leave some room in the budget for fuel. i have an '07 X and it handles great. yes it's heavier but with 306hp, you'll be fine.

as to the Bose system (premium package only?)... i came from a top of the line honda accord with premium sound, and even on a bad day the Bose is way better. obviously there are settings for bass/treble. test drive the car and play with the knobs.

Sorry, let me clarify. I'm doing 60% highway / 40% city driving. Currently, I'm getting 21mpg. I've never trusted the sticker numbers as they're "perfect senario". So, I always like to see what others are really getting.

9. On another note, I'm looking at a used, non-certified '04. Since it looks like the factory warranty will only last another year at most, does anyone know whether Nissan / Infinity offers a certification program?

10. Also, does the automatic have the manual mode in the sedan?

Thanks again all,

-X

The AWD is amazazing . Joe is right it is slower in performance if the road and the weather is perfect. If not then seeeeyaaaa the X shines in all season all weather and all road condition.X winter=fun S winter=stored or survivor mode X rain=fun S rain=god please help X summer no rain= still funS summer no rain=fun and .4 sec advantage over the X
