Noob question: Why does my car have all the AC parts (except comp) but no AC?

Hey guys and gals I have what I assume is a very easy question:

I recently bought a 93 240 Coupe and it seems to have every part for a AC setup except the button on the interior and the actual compressor under hood. I mean all the lines are ran through the engine bay, the extra radiator thing is there but no actual AC is installed or ever was (the car is bone stock never modded). I assume this was just to make it easier for them to add AC if someone bought it as an option but I just wasn't sure.

Just my 2 cents, people take the AC out of their 240's to reduce weight often.

The A/C lines are only added if A/C was at one time installed. I have a couple of chassis' that never had A/C and there are no lines/never have been lines. Only "lines" are to the heater core, whcih are adjacent to the A/C lines. So, if the lines are there and there is no compressor AND the A/C button doesn't exist, someone has definitely modded the car.

I would say that someone removed the compressor for weight reduction as this is very common, but to suggest that someone also replaced the climate control unit with a non-a/c unit.... that would really be pushing the limits of reason. Please don't take this as an insult, but are you SURE that the a/c button is missing? How about power windows and locks - do you have them?

Well I don't take it as an insult at all.....seriously I was just curious. I agree that removing the climate control at the same time as the compressor is a bit extreme. I doubt anyone ever modded this car seriously.....everything is bone stock. My brother and I removed the stock struts when we put in my KYB's, the engine bay is pristine, interior has the stock head unit, etc. To answer the one question though: no it doesn't have any other power options (except power steering). It most likely used to. A/C is heavy and takes alot of HP to drive. Many people don't even use it. I live in Phx,AZ and mine isn't always on.
