are you trying to get into track racing or just autocross? there is a big difference, autocross takes place in parking lots around cones. track racing is actual racing. to me they are very different, auto-x is a bit boring.to autocross you just need to show up with your car and pay in most cases.if you want to get into actual track racing, I wouldnt bother with starting out in autocross. just take your car out to a couple track days, make sure you like it. If you do, then join SCCA or NASA, and start your lisencing prosses, generaly you have to do 1-2 schools before you get your prov lisence. some schools provide cas, others you have to bring your own (must be race legal, ie roll cage, seat, harnes, ect) your third option would be just to rent a race car, which I recomend. you can rent a car for your schools and for races, which is good when your first starting out, most times when you rent a race car they transport it, and you have a mechanic taking care of it, so all you have to worry about is driving.
