Ok I know I should use the almighty "Search" button but I'm lazy and that thing is a major pita most of the time. So the question is, what would be a good estimate on a CA18DET swap in a '92 Coupe done right? Thanks for the input, I'm just trying to figure out what to throw in my coupe as its been sitting for a few years.

That is really hard to say. The main problem with CA's is that it's hard to garuntee if you're getting a good condition motorset or not. They are an old motor now and a lot of them have been sitting for quite some time now.

Many times you will have to do a minor rebuild on it (bearings, rings, oil and water pumps, new seals, ect), but not nessicearly.

I would say that a good running stock(ish) CA is probabally going to cost you around $3K all said and done. You might be able to do it for $2,500, but I wouldn't plan on it....

i believe thats all that i needed to get the car running....minus fuel and oil change....i know theres more i need to change but i havent gotten that far yet...installation was free cuz my friend and i did it

That's a little lower than normal I think, but if you don't rebuild it, that's about right.

for realz i didnt rebuild cuz i had no time nor the money but the internals, labor work, and all that good stuff makes it more

$1500-$1700 i would say is the range for a quick slop swap

i just had to cuz i needed the car to drive to my dads garage..which is where it sits now till i get money for parts

mine cost me a total of about 2400 to get running, including the car. this was years ago and i got my front clip for 1k. now to get the car road worthy i think i spent another grand. so about $2200 for just the swap, car not included. i didnt rebuild much but my engine was brand freaking new with only 22k miles on it, so it wasnt really necessary. since then i think it has cost me a factor of ten more.... and some change! (me being dumb, 2 rebuilds, tons of cool new parts...)

SR might be cheaper now, but our forum freaking rules. CA f teh w!

Got mine from JHot 59k miles included fuel pump,complete harness,upraded ECU(sequential on box) apexi intake,2.5" downpipe, honda jack, short shifter, and side mount&piping for 1470 inludin shipping. did the harness myself for $20. CAn't wait to put more money in it!

yea, mine after FMIC and all the usuall maintenance was about 1,800. It's been running great ever since!
