noob question on aftermarket parts

ok so aftermarket parts are supposed to make you car go "faster" right? (im trying to sound really cliche here...but anyways thats beyond the point)

i have a 2 1/4 inch catback on my car, im going to get an aem intake soon and then possibly headers...just some basic mods...then the rest of the money is going to maintainence probably.

so my question is, since these parts (specifially bolt-ons) are supposed to make you go faster and push harder, would they add more stress and make the engine work harder therefore reducing the life span of the engine? maybe it makes such a little difference it wouldnt change anything? maybe it does make a big impact?

im sure some parts do and some parts dont....just curious, and thanks for any input.

those parts dont add more stress on your car but some day.

they allow your engine to "breath more efficient" allowing more air, wich means more fuel, wich means more power.

If anything some aftermarket parts actually increase the performance and efficiency of your engine which makes it in a sense run better.

Intake -> Better breathing engineExhaust -> Getting out the exhaust fumes more efficientlyHeader -> Allows more free flowing exhaust fumes

basically the bolt ons you were talking about, as mentioned previously, the only stress that comes from aftermarket parts is the drivers who think having these bolts ons mean they must drive harder to feel their moneys worth. Maintain your car with general up keep and drive it smoothly and you shouldn't have any regrets in modding the car.

Sidenote:---Not all aftermarket parts are for speed gains ie. suspension parts increase performance in the cornering and stability of your car. Equally as important as having speed increasing parts.
